It's just amazing how you want information from SBI and probably never raced with them or if you did race with them, JC ruled on something against you that really pi$$ed you off so much you made it your life's work to bash them every chance you get. Why is it 1 of the 3 people who passed away that tragic day ,their relatives some how ask a so called lawyer who could'nt run his own company against SBI doing the same type of business who had a few racers pass away did'nt do much for safety sake. From what i can remember he seemed to promise the world and eventually run it in the ground. So what happened to that 4 letter race organization when he got finished ? So if you want to know what has been done , i would get a boat go to the next race and register it to race and after all inspections and so on you will know first hand what is or has been done. Until then why don't you grow up and get alife maybe golf or tennis if your not doing them already.

Most important is that the drivers are fine. Shame that such a great race boat-turned exhibition boat was lost.
Now it is time for some top-down management of the offshore racing world. These guys are the tops. Build a new boat that several others can duplicate to create real, competitive racing. I have no doubt the Geico team would still prevail, but there would be some great battles along the way. Have always been a fan, pretty sure the lemons presented are already being squeezed to make some tasty lemonade. |
What was the other incident?

1st I've heard of this :( We were out boating all day yesterday. Glad to hear that Marc and Scotty are OK, that's most important thing here. The boat can and will be replaced, and then these 2 need for SERIOUS speed fellows will back on the water, and running out front! :)

Im not seeing the karma or the ouch cuz knowing Scotty and Marc, they would still like to see their friends come to Sarasota and bring their boats to run or to hang out ..... and knowing their friends/fellow racers, they'd love to be there..... |

Prolly the high pressure turbine disk went thru the case. Went the cycle of a 4 stroke engine is broken its just shuts down. When turbine engine cycles are interrupted you get one hell of a fire. If you remove suck, squeeze, bang, blow=fire. Damn shame it tore up such a badass boat. But don't quote me, just what I think may have happened

glad they are both okay.

Our fellow OSO'ers. Thanks so much for your words of support and kindness I can't tell you how much it means after loosing our "Secretariat". The past year has been quite challenging for us. It's seems there has been a gremlin hiding around every corner. Scotty and I are fine. Sbi safety stuck around assisted our Miss G safety team to ensure we were safely off the boat and ok. Thank you to all you guys and we really mean it..
The boat didn't fair so well. It happened very very fast and the heat and fire consumed the boat in a few short min. 4 large halon systems and two full size hand held extinguishers had absolute no effect. Once the epoxy and fuel had ignited the heat was searing and left us no choice but to abandon trying to save her. We have a professional crash investigation team that will find the exact cause of the fire and we will update you the details as it is confirmed. Isn't it funny how life works.Just when you take a couple steps forward....It hit's you. Our crew had spent weeks of planning, engineering and grueling hours to prepare her for the Sarasota Grand Prix exhibition run. She was absolutely stunning in looks and performance, especially on her final run. A huge thank you to our faithful hardworking crew that toiled through the night to get their own boat (this time) off the bottom and onto the trailer for the lonely quiet ride home. Much as they have selflessly done for our fellow racers throughout the years when they experienced a crash or loss. They really are the best. In the end she a materiel thing and can and will be replaced and if you know us you know we won't disappoint you. Once again we truly appreciate your kind words of support, we'll be fine. We ask that you keep your thoughts with Jassman, Pricilla Gratton the Morgan and Tillman families as there loss is forever ours is temporary. Best regards to all of you. Marc, glad to hear you guys are OK. I dont think we have ever meet but Scotty and I go way back to the days of him dragging his Pantera to my shop to keep it going. At the end of the day the boat is just that, a boat. it is not the first to be damaged and wont be the last so as long as you guys make it home to your families at the end of the day all is good.
to some of the rest of you, driven it, I dont know how much racing you have done with any or all of the organizations and personally I dont care, this was a post to inform everyone about what happened and for people to find out that the guys were fine and off the boat. If you or any others have such a problem with SBI, APBA or any others then start a post about that. those of you who have turned this into your own agenda to bash the organization just disgust me and are part of the reason after 20+ years involved in racing I walked away. when you people sit behind your computers playing petty politics just so you can feel important to yourself it makes me wonder if it is worth my time to even visit this site. Marc and Scotty, feel good that you made the choice to get off the boat and are safe and sound, salvage what you can and move on. I have pieced more race boats back together than I care to count but at the end of the day coming home to family means more than any trophy so consider this a win. Steve Schmidt |
Glad you guys are safe and sound!!! Sorry for the loss of such a beautiful machine. Jim
