There were 2 Black Diamond boats in the both. Both are brand new 2015 models. The one in the pic is Troy Paul's, the other one is Derick's. There are some differences but they are very similiar boats. Yes Derick wanted an updated model from his old 2013, lol. This one will be alot lighter and faster as it does not have the big screen tv's coming out of the deck and alot of the stereo stuff is built in. Also Derick's is a fixed #8 and Rudder boat, his old one was BPM's and rudder, Troy's is a conventional # 8 drive boat. Derick's has 6 seats, Troy's has 8, Those are the differences that come to mind.

Hey so isn't this the 3rd & 4th all black boats. The 1st being the ZR48 then the black diamond and finally these 2. Is that correct?

Just curious, why 8's over BPM's?? THey both need trannys, but the surface drives have less to tear up/break. Is the handeling that much different??

Yes this would be boat 3 and 4.
Technically the are both surface drives, and yes the BPM's are a simpler design. I believe the reason for the drive choice was the trimability of the 8's, and being able to change the thrust angle more. It didn't hurt that Passblocker ran 185 on the first day of testing.

The mti rep told me the 8's are a little more user friendly and the owner was a little less experienced with big cats than the other surface drive owner

Not sure who you talked to but I think there was some confusion some where. Both owners have ALOT of time in their boats and both boats are #8 boats.
