Is it just me, or does perspective, angle, zoom, make certain boats look short? 42' is a relatively long boat in that model, makes it look like a 35-36' ( i exaggerate), happens with other models too, maybe the "cockpit forward" style boats?

I notice it mostly with Cigarettes, OL, etc.

Short answer is yes. It's mostly the angle and distance that come into play as telephoto lenses compress distant images- the phenomenon is known as foreshortening.
