These are the best batterys on earth, we have been using them on our outboard drag boats for years!. ( four you slow boat guys, our race motors have little charging or total loss ignition, and these are the only ones that stand up, they also are very resilient to viberation, and can be mounted in any direction. )

GREAT Price, I am assuming that is the 1200.

they are not just a great battery for your charging system but they are great looking and small. I saw the 925's in the new Lavey Craft race boat a couple weeks ago and they took up little to no room, heck i almost didnt even notice them but when i did OHH YEA BABY. these batteries are just cool

The team I used to ocassianaly crew for ran then in their SST-45's, same deal no charging and often multiple Lemans style restarts(eninge shut off and boat's start from dock or beach) The batteries held up great and never let us down. In those tiny boats the size and ability to mount in any configuration was great.

i re-rigged a grady white with a pair of yamahas this spring that had 6 of em in it...i had never seen em before so i was very curious..the boat had a inverter panel in it so i turned it on and ran my lil boombox for some tunes and my drop light for two whole days...the batteries then cranked and started the motors without any hesitation..i asked the customer about em he says he loves em..runs to the canyon(90 miles) and sleeps out there using the lights microwave and some other stuff ..he said they have yet to fail him... :D

Ran into this outfit at the Tampa Boat Show http://www.odysseysoutheast.com/contact.php -- there is a stocking dealer in Tampa as well.

AFter talking to the boat show dealer I'm impressed. It sure makes the Optima look way to sensitive--and overpriced.

I have a few questions.... First is that CA or CCA, there is a diffeance CA is ratated at 32 deg. and CCA's at 0 deg....But even 1200 ca's is a lot. Also, Wouldn’t you want a larger Reserve capacity? That what’s going to let the stereo crank while you’re floating and having a cocktail?

Poorsche 10-06-2005 08:31 AM

Re: Look At The Size Of This Thing !

All the numbers mumbo-jumbo regards batteries makes no sense to me. Even the warranties are bizarre.

I just get one from somebody that will exchange eveyr 11 months whne it "fails".

teaguecustommarine 10-14-2005 11:25 AM

Re: Look At The Size Of This Thing !

as far as CA and CCA I'm also not all up to snuff on the lingo
but i can tell you that if you are cranking your motors for more than 20 seconds then you better stop and figure out whats going on because you shouldn't have to crank her that much to get her to start sooooooo that would mean that you should have plenty of cranking power to start any number of big bad horses with CA to spare

that is if your running the group 27,
i know a few people using the 925 battery
running twin 525 mercs with no problems
i have even seen one of the west coast race boats
with two 925's in it and they even won
the race (not that the battery had anything
to do with it)

Thanks, Bob.

I'll give your guys a call early February to get them here before the warm (boating) season arrives.

How long should I consider it taking to have them shipped to Houston, TX 77002 (so I can predict when to call in the order)?

Bob (this is Joe, not FeverFan - just logged on at his house),

You suggested a different battery (other than the one mentioned above) and I'm not sure why. I was wondering why. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm now ready to order the batteries. Give me a call at 832-277-3661 or PM "Joe" with the best number to reach you next week (as of Tue). I'd like to discuss it more in depth - and know the "name" of the batteries etc... before ordering with you. I have been told to buy another brand, but would like to run all the traps first - considering "your" batteries may suit my needs mo'betta!

FYI - I met you a few years ago in Sarasota (after having a phone conversation a few months prior re: my boat mechanic b!tching about the motors another guy I boat(ed) with had from you - then, that guy lost his boat, wife and medical license - all in the same month. So, his engine problems were, most likely, due to "operator error," I'd assume - considering the turn of "other" events! ).

Anyway, I enjoyed speaking with you then and appreciated you taking the time to stop and have a conversation with a (young punk) "non-racer" cig. owner!

Joe (not FeverFan)! haha.

hey Bob....

this thing looks like it would be great for my SVL. Im trying to drop weight wherever possible. It appears that this might be about 25 - 30lbs lighter than a conv. Batt. no problems cranking a 525 efi????

Re: Look At The Size Of This Thing !

there should be full details about the batteries in the first part of the forum and you could go to www.odysseybatteries.com if you have any other questions or need more info. as far as the battery mart goes, watch what you buy, you want to make sure that you get a battery withOUT the metal jacket
or you will have problems with rust which is why i don't sell those, and i now have all the models from the 925t to the 2150 in stock
