Rik told me they have run them on the race boats that way for the past 20+ years. never any problem. I asked all these questions before i bought. one good thing is the boat has no porpoise.

what size (diameter) props were they running? did you get to ride in it before you bought it?

no... I did not want the Crockett's engines (i like blower motors) everyone i spoke with including Terry Sobo told me the boat ran great, with the ASD 6 I'm not sure about the props but my local prop guy seem to think their 37x16 3\4 or 17''

This was my first 50' Nor Tech purchased from them in 2002 while having my current boat built. It was slightly used at the time and now finds it's home in the Chicago area I'm told.

This is my current Nor Tech. Also a 50' V. This has been an unbelievable boat in every way. Summers on the Great Lakes and winters in South West Florida. :D

NICE... what drives? and performance #s?
Also fuel capacity and gph/range?

BTW, the one thing thats nice for cruising, that all perf. boats seem to lack is radar. We all know that arches are butt ugly, but could someone fabricate a mast, that sits behind the rear bench, where a radar can be mounted?

Coming to a oso screen real soon. :D Thats exactly what im working on, a call it per say a 4300 cruiser, that does upper 70's with Diesels. (80mh would be better Terry) Im looking at a retractible bimini front and back and then some side curtains that can be stowed in the cabin. Also Nortech said they would build me an anchor that drops down below the rub rail, somewhat like the 38/48 Fountain cruiser. Jeff

ASD 8's 75 MPH, 65 cruise, WOT is 50GPH.
Don't know how you could do a mast that looked good, was strong enough, and was high enough that you didn't microwave your melon.
If you want the radar do the arch and it gives you a nice platform for the fore and aft bimini.

Terry tell me whats going on with the dash. Looks awesome, neat and professional.

Those are nice numbers. What GPH at 60mph?

I was thinking of an aluminum mast about 6" at base tapering at it got higher w/ a crossbar up top for mounting.
It could rake forward, and be 2ft over drivers heads?
I always thought this could look good on a 38-40 magnum, but never did any drafting.

Re: Official Nor-Tech picture thread

Jeff, sounds like your putting together an awsome package.
What kind of boating do you do? Any cruising?

Stormrider 04-26-2006 12:03 PM

Re: Official Nor-Tech picture thread

Wow, look what just popped up in the classifieds... for military use. And if ya can't figure it out... look at the radar mast/stand, whateva ya wanna call it.

Re: Official Nor-Tech picture thread

Now, that is a 27ft boat, and i think it would look better on a larger boat... scale wise. I would not have to be any higher than on this boat.

salesmanship 04-26-2006 01:35 PM

Re: Official Nor-Tech picture thread

That's certainly functional but where ya gonna put it?
Head rests, sun lounge, swim platform?

Stormrider 04-26-2006 02:17 PM

Re: Official Nor-Tech picture thread

just behind the rear bench, attached to the stringers.
Mold the engine hatch around it.
I was never a big fan of radar arches on the lower narrow boats.
On a big 53ft magnum it looks in place, but they start to look tall on lower freeboard, narrower boats, IMO.

I thought this may be a solution.
