This is a great looking boat at a great price I think. Not sure about 525's and Xr's with these rigs though...

Not very nice. No one said "Don't buy one with Arnesons."

What is your negative experience with 525's in the 36.

Randy DID!

I have NO experance with one with 525 All I know is what Im told.. your lucky to break 100.(full fuel & people) what is the point of owning one of the nices & fastest, cats if you cant go fast.. Just my 02ct.

my old boat with the Arnesons & 850 Gellners were perfect balance of speed, insurance, ride.

customryder 03-08-2007 10:47 AM

Again The Nor- tech 36 Is a great boat! & Terry & the Nor Tech Factory Were always top notch with return phone calls etc... Just feel it May be a little under powered with the 525s It looks like a very nice boat.
I would recommend one to anyone.

the 36 is an awesome ride even with 525's, there is something to be said for reliability and insurable, 100mph is very fast, depending on where you boat most of the time you can't run any faster due to rough water or too crowded, big power is nice but hardly ever used and very expensive to keep up. You won't find any steals on them. too much demand.

Have you run a 525 3600? How is the acceleration? Do you know what speed they run at 4000rpm?

MOTION35 03-08-2007 07:52 PM

Nortech

Thank To All They Run Around 80 At 4000 Rpms.

I am 99% sure I rafted off that boat at the MBS PR in Islamorada. Guy came down for the day but wasn't part of the PR. Boat looked great in person. Guy took a bad fall off the back and cut his hand on the stern cleat. Sealed up the cut with superglue for a stitch until he could get to the ER.

LostinBoston 03-08-2007 09:07 PM

I have one with 525's XR's. It runs great. Yes it could be faster, but you get what you pay for. Id let mine go for 275. Cant find a 850, 6's boat for that. Its runs 104. The only thing wrong with 525's in that boat, is that you want more, but how is that any different then any other boat. Every boat i have ever owned i wanted more power in.
Arneson does make a bravo to asd conversion w/ asd 7s and tie bar on a tower for 23k (I think) per side.

At 4000 rpm im running 78 mph.

Chuck 03-08-2007 09:20 PM

Best thing about a 525 boat is the reliability. I ran alot of poker runs, and although a 525 boat is far from the fastest it always finished the run in the top 10 percent. The bigger the power the shorter the distance in the runs from what I have seen. I could run that boat at 85-95 all day , and always finished the run. That being said... I did want more power and hopefully will be back on the water May 1st with the new one.

#6 and 700hp and UP is the only one to look at.:D

Boomer 880 03-08-2007 09:35 PM

Curious... any drive breakage on the Bravo set-ups? The boat is 10,000 pounds, so that is pretty much weight to push with the Bravo.

I found the insurance to be the same up to 800hp +\-
100 +\- in a nor tech cat is crusing speed.

Buddy OO 03-09-2007 06:49 PM

THE 850's and 6 drives are probably the best all around package for the 36, still can get insurance in the 10-12k range depending on layup, but you have to have experience with a cat to get insured anyway. still runs 130-135mph which is as fast as you'll ever want to run anyway, still somewhat reliable with 150hour motors being typical, stay away from the Arnesons, will kill you when you try to resell

Pro1 03-26-2007 10:07 PM

Hey

PM me, I know of a great deal on a 36 Nortech cat with six's, trailer etc, nice boat in great condition, low hours.

Strip Poker 388 03-30-2007 05:25 PM

you can allways Whipple the 525's and make around 800,That would be a reliable package if the bravo would hold up?

I agree...especially on gas...Diesel, I believe the Arneson's make a great package.

fidelitymotors 04-14-2007 09:48 AM

36 Nortech

I have two of these one with #6 and big power the other with 525 and xr i love both boats each has its pluses and minuses very similar to a women there are five good things and five bad for each but u never gonna get one with ten.
The 525 whippled with xr drives is fun boat faster than any v bottom looks better than most boats and is actually affordable yes drives are the weak spot but for $200,000 its a great value

dreamer 04-20-2007 07:23 PM

does a 525 boat porpoise at cruise speeds?...heard that was the prob with the 525 boats....porps till 80 or so?

It appears that they do in most PR videos. Can it be operator error in all cases?

I love the cat, and for the cash think it's a great deal. I aspire to be able to NOT jump on a deal like that one day.

Mine never did. All cats will bounce a little while they are searching for air. But if that is a problem the Nor-Techs can adjust out of it with a little drop of the tabs.

I havn't seen many PR videos so i cant comment on that. What i can say is that mine has a little bit of bow lift, sometime you keep the bow down with tabs, other times you let it air out, depending on the conditions. Usually off FTL, i hit the tabs a touch. When im in biscayne bay, I air it out and find the right balance. Either way, there is no porpoising. Also, im assuming most of them are running 6's with cleavers, , my bow lift is casued by, or accentuated by my round blade XR props. I am getting a custom set of props for it becasue I kept breaking blades on my hydromotives.

LostinBoston 04-21-2007 09:18 PM

Cash,
When I get my new props in your welcome to come for a ride.

Appreciate the offer, keep me posted. My only Cat experience was racing a 30' AMT and then riding in big Skater's and MTI's. I don't really have any mid-size experience to speak of.

I love the looks of the NT, I hope they perform as well.
