So what is cruise and top end for a trip 625 43V? Do the 625's eat XR's??

I found a 43 but was not really considering trips so I need some advice from 43 owners who know about twins vs. trips, etc.

PM Offleaseonly on here, he is on his 2nd 43V w/ triples. I think the old boat ran about 90 on 625's and the new boat with tri 650's runs 100 when dialed in. I did a poker run on his boat last weekend and with the wrong lowers/props it still ran 92 with 6 aboard/ full fuel with 500 rpm's left on the tach.
Great boat, runs strong and can handle any water conditions.

Terry - do you have any contacts on who may be selling a 43V where I can do a trade? I found one that has trip 625's Nor-Tech motors that were just rebuilt but not sure who else may be listing it and if they can do a trade...

Jeff - the battle is between the Nor-tech (43V) and the Outerlimits (42 Legacy) at the moment. I want a 99.9 mph boat without the headache of trips or super high maintenance HP if possible. Ideally I would like a set of engines that will go 225-250 hours minimum before work is required so that rules out the Merc 850/1075 among others...

BillR and Macklin had the slower boats when we had all had the PQ's so I have to be sure that my next ride crushes them in speed and rough water departments.

these are the exact 2 boats that I always ended up with as a pick before I ordered a new boat. The 42 Legacy will always be quicker, approx 10 mph faster with identicle power, due to different bottom design, but is much, much, smaller overall. Cockpit, cabin space, cabin height, ammenities, and so on. OL is geared everything towards speed with some comfort thrown in. I personally do not care for OL Epoxy bottom, too harsh of a ride, but the rest of the boat is built like a brick sh*t house. The Nortech is actually 44.6, has a much larger cockpit, and the cabin by far is the largest for it's size. The ride in rough water is excellent, it's a softer re-entry, and makes long poker runs enjoyable where your not beat to death when you arrive. Weight and length have it's advantages when the water get's rough. We overnight, so this is an excellent choice, full head appointments that has over 6' and 6'2" by the fridge and microwave and sink.
