Diesel 39's to Greece
2 Attachment(s)
These two 39's just left for Greece.
Twin 480 Yanmar W/ ASD 8's. Unlike most 39's these two have just about every option available including AC, Diesel Gen, and anchor windlass aluminum swim platform. Full of fuel and all that extra weight still reached 80 MPH. The best part was at 56 MPH the total fuel consumption was 25 gallons per hour, @ 60 it was 30 GPH! |
Very nice, job well done.

Terry what is the top end for the 39 Diesel boats?
On a 43 V with twin diesels what is the top end? |
How much needed changing for the engine weight and drive setup? Ride differences?
|
Sweet Boat's! Any pictures of the rigging, dash and the windlass? I really like the clean lines of the second one!
|
Yes. the second one almost looks like an old bertram.
Way cool. |
Niiiiice. Hows the price compare to a 525 boat?
|
Swaaeett!!
|
Where In Greece? , I Spend Every August There
|

Retail List price is $46,000 more than 525's
Just a transom mod to accomodate the ASD's. No cockipit difference. Handles fine They will be in Athens by the end of June. The blue one got away before I could get any good pix but's here's a few |
I think you're ahead of the game getting your boats dialed in with Diesel.
I might be wrong but a 39 or 43 that could run 85 all day with diesel would have a lot of interest I would think. Looks like all it's going to take is a little more power out of the mills. |

That's coming shortly, they are working on a program that will hopefully yeild a liitle more power 40-70hp. That's what I'm hearing from Adib Mastry. That should be good for 3-4 mph on the 39', which is actually a 41' and 2-3 on the 43', which is actually a 45'. The question is should I go diesel again or gas:chick: :D |
The pic of the first boat (one on left, post 1) looks like it has a very similar paint job to the "Aqua Doll" 50' Supercat that was at the show. Same owner?
Very nice rigs! |
Thanks TS.
See you in Jacksonville? |
Terry and Jeff you do all the trial and error work . Between the two of you things should be worked out for when I order mine . Not this year but 2009 sure looks promising .
|
So what does a 39 Diesel boat run top speed? 43V Top Speed?

I told Terry to decide, I would take it either way. I guess I'll find out when I pick it up or see motor shots towards the end of the build.

3 questions for you: 1. What happened to your 43V diesel boat? 2. How fast was it? 3. How fast is a 39V with diesels? 1. Terry sold it.. Have another 4300 Diesel boat on order with new vacuum bag layup. 2. 74 and change, a little more room and might have hit 75. Looking for 78-80 with the new one. Also a module will be coming out shortly which will increase hp/tq, similiar to what is done on the trucks, but less hp applications. 3. I believe Terry stated in another thread with 4 people, full of gas, genny, windlass, they hit 80. Lighter load, less options and more prop testing will get closer to 85. One hell of a poker runner, especially with todays fuel prices. Jeff |
I was on 43 V, "Where's Eileen" for the last two FPC runs and the boat was great, it rides like a Cadillac.
Obviously you like the boat if you are building another. What speeds are you hoping for with twin 700's? |

I believe I read on the Jacksonville thread you were on a 4300 as well as got to ride on the new 43 Sunsation. Seems like a great run, with alot of awesome boats, maybe next year. With the present layup Nortech was looking for low 90's. With the new layup, who knows until they are finding out how much weight the boats shed. Possibly mid 90's. I think thats great for a 44.6" boat, 9' beam, and yes I agree, a great overall ride.
I may retire in 12 months or so - and when I do I am coming south to ride with you!:evilb: |

Those 39's are the cats azz. What ever happened to the 1996 38 Nortech with diesels I saw it on TV on a FPC special.
|
Salesmanship,
Have you ever considered Cummins for some of your Diesel Applications? The new QSB 480 is slightly lighter than the Yanmar. Peak Torque comes in 200 RPM earlier. Common Rail Technology (Cleaner, Quieter), and right in line with Yanmar in pricing. |

Acually I've been reasearching for a repower project.
