The Big Blue Nortechs
Whats the story on the blue Nortechs running around the Ft Myers Beach area? For awhile, we would see them go out in pairs nearly everyday with a bunch of guys on board, then maybe only 2 guys. They had to be diesel powered.
|
I just passed the factory and saw several blue center consoles that looked pretty awesome.

Customs boats, as in the law. The Bahamas have them and I think the U.S. has some now, those are 50 and 43 foot cc.
|
It's part of "Operation Enduring Friendship".
The boats are being deployed throughout the Carribean and Central America for intercepting bad guys. The 43' boats are operated by the host nations. What you're seeing are the teams from their countries conducting training missions off the beach. |

I was followed by one about 2 weeks ago as I was heading to Keywayden in Naples.Just pasted FMB. They followed behind for about 2 min. I was cruising along about 65. 3-5 Seas. 15 mph on-shore wind. I was driving.
Had 7 peeps on board. Wife mentioned maybe coast guard. I said no way no in that thing. I figured it was someone following me to Keywayden. After about 5 min they pulled along my strbd side. I read Nor-Tech on the side(Blue boat). Had about 6 guys on board in uniform. I guess they saw I had family and my kids on board. Gave a thumbs up and made a hard left to the open gulf to some other boats. It was a sharp looking boat. Terry What pkg they running? Diesels or ??? |

Terry,
Is Chuck W still involved in brokering those deals? |
Triple Yanmar 315's
Chuck W is our contract administrator for Gov. deals. No need to sweat if they're tailing or intercepting you. They're just training and or checking our your cool boats. Besides the guys in uniforms aren't from the US. |

Theyre alive and well in Nassau... :D
Saw it sitting idle in the water at about 9 at night, lights out, no sound next to the lift...about an hour later when it was put up, i barely got to the edge of the dock in time to see a 38 Cig with 3 eggbeaters blasting thru the cut on our end out to the ocean...and it wasnt any endurance race or poker run.... Pretty sweet :cool-smiley-011: http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...n/IMG_3238.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...n/IMG_3290.jpg |
Those are what we call the 8 and 9 ball.
We built those back a few years ago for The US State Dept. The Royal Bahamian Police operates them. The new boats are a little different. |

How are they transported to their respective countries? On those big cats called Swifts. |
Well Terry I did a Google but couldn't find Swift transports. I know about Dockwise transport but don't yall ship the boats on their trailers which can't be done on Dockwise? Have you got pics of all that? I would like to see how that's done.

Really?
Just typed US Navy swift transport and got a ton of listings. http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/...ast-catamaran- transport-program-moves-forward-updated-01535/ http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...1119-nns01.htm |
That looks very similar to the Incat ferry on the Bay of Fundy. Probably built by that company.
|
They were running one of those from MIA to the Bahamas also.
