Anyway. I looked at it last Wed before I left for Bimini. Paint still shines, but it had a lot of dock rash. It should buff out. There are a lot of paint chips down at the edge of the strake. It still shines though so if I can buff through the dock rash it will clean upp nicely on the outside. Upholstery is a .5 out of 10. It is really terrible. It has been sitting un covered in the boat yard. You can see where the cover was folded up in the sun and it is faded.
Engines turned over very smoothly. Cusious as to why his mechanic said they were blown. Doesn't crank like there is a dead hole. The starbord engine did get very hot though. It has expected light corrosion on drives etc. Looks like sportmasters and XR's, ao that is good. Leaving tomorrow for Cali to go pick it up. Can;t wait to get started on this one. |
Hey Mike what was your setup. I had 720hp 32 hydro 5 blade 2in shortys with 1 in spacers running 92 mph. Now I have 830 hp but no top speed yet.

Hmmmm. It should run closer to 90 with the stock 500's. We were running those speeds back when the only prop choice was 29" three blade Mirage Plus.

I understand it ran over 100 with the blowers and handled pretty well. PM Steve Miklos and he can give you John's number. John put the blowers on the boat. Whatever you do, leave the drives on the transom. No boxes. My new 38 did not like the boxes and high X. You may have to drive it a little bit but it is a fun boat that will not bite you if you stay on top of it. Enjoy. Very cool boat. |
It's here. I started a new thread for posting pics and info during the restoration. THe paint on this thing is incredible. Still shines like brand new. Clear is miles deep.

Port engine runs perfectly so far
The starboard engine fired off a few minutes ago like there was nothing wrong with it. After a few revs though it started popping and sputtering. Guess I'll investigate some more tonight after I write some more files, and pay some more bills. Boat is starting to intruige me. :coolcowboy: Stay tuned. Had another offer come in on them today. After today though, I really want to run them and see what kind of nuts this boat has before I take it apart. |
