Default 36 Cat Swim Platform / Tie Bar

I just got a swim platform built for my 36 cat. My question is can I move the tie bar from being mounted on top of the drive plate to the bottom to give way for more clearance? I see Perfect Storm is set up that way but every other cat I have looked at is set up on top. Just wanted to be safe and make sure it's not on top for a specific reason.

I talked with Imco and looks like bad news. They say its a big no go on flipping it around. They said it should always be on top for the Nortech 36 cat. If you flip it around it will bend the bar during the transition of on top of the water and not. With it below looks like it just hangs too far down.

I've had mine upside down for 2 seasons (100+ hours) and it's still perfect. That is one of the things I check before every ride and have had no issues.
