34 CC Twins or Trips
#1
We are coming over to the Other side soon.
I have it narrowed down to a couple different CCs and Nor-Tech is at the top.
Others are Statement, Scout, Chis Craft, and a few others. But really like the NT for layout and seating.
Wondering on real world twins v trips- Pros Cons for real users.
I have been thinking just twins- we are on a lake. We really use swim platform when hanging out in coves.
I have had my Speed runs so not an issue w there.
NO Fishing
What are your guys thoughts?
Any coming up for sale not listed?
Talk to me, Thanks Q

Had triples on my Fountain years ago. Just for laughs, I tilted the center engine clear of the water one day and ran it on the two outer engines. Obviously she wasn’t set up for twins (engines miles apart and wrong props) but it still got up and planed, top speed was down from high 60’s to high 50’s. Given the right set up, the gap would have been noticeably less.
Aside from bragging rights for the extra mph and more grunt out of the hole, the trips offer no advantage. One engine fails, you can still limp home on the other. Buying second hand, engines, maintenance, options, hours etc are more important, twins or trips both work. Personally, if I were ordering a new boat, I’d go for biggest twin package available.
Happy shopping.🙂

My Father purchased a 2014 34 Nor-tech CC with twin 300's, he absolutely loves the boat. We picked it up in Sarasota last spring and ran it home to Cape Coral. I drove most of the way home and was also really impressed. 4 people, 1/2 tank fuel and gear the boat ran right up to 68 mph. The boat does not need tabs and it was effortless to drive. I bet it would get on plane with 1 motor if you had to get home. I would not hesitate on buying a 34 with twins.

I originally ordered my 34 NT with twin 300s. A few years back I re-powered to 400s. I 100% boat on LOTO, where you can pretty much find a marina every mile. I'm very happy with twins, especially the 400s. I went that direction because I was never going offshore. If I was making runs to the Bahamas or such I would recommend trips just for the added insurance of a 3rd engine if one decided to puke.
