Went and got her...

Dean,
I really like the mufflers. They are not quite as heavyduty as the GGBs but still very nice pieces. $850 vs. $475 or so X2 helped that decision
Get a hold of FTMBob (www.fullthrottlemarine.com) and he'll take care of you.
These are transom mounts, not clamp ons. I'm pretty sure the 496HOs and maybe your 502s (not sure) the holes are lower on the transom compared to the 500s and 525s due to the CMIs on the HP motors. The length and transom angle was enough to just about totally submerge them in the water (about 3/4) so it really quieted them down. It still has the nice rumble at idle but is much quieter.
I think the submerging the tips by length has a lot to do with the db reduction in these test (Hot Boat etc...)
We did a side by side comparison as shown in the above picture with no water influence or anything else that might effect it and we only saw a 6 db drop from side to side, real time, no gimics, etc... Not the 12 or so they advertise but that's the boat business. RV will have to verify me but I think it was 92db to 86db standing on a ladder at 3' back and 4' up.
I don't know about the down turns. I have to have the drives completely straight and when trimmed all the way up I have 1/8" of clearance. I also had to turn the rams over so the fittings wouldn't hit. I think the rams would be an issue with the downturns though.
Thanks Dream Big
Indiana, I let my wife drive and she said it felt like it was headed to heaven when coming out of the hole (She didn't have it tucked ;o) It feels pretty fricken long out there for sure

Dave,
I think it was 87db. Also this was one engine running. My previous testing(last year) showed 2db increase when both engines are running.
nitro/max,
How are you doing? Are you going to the Sturgeon Bay poker run this year. I was hoping it would be the 42 Nordic but they just can't seem to get the mold finished. We have a 42 Sonic coming. It is not the same style and fit/finish of the Nordic but it has a good ride and excellant cabin/storage layout.
Maybe in a couple years they will have the 42 Nordic done and we can look at that.
