28 Heat - quick question on audio system
Mine is in storage and I want to re-do the stereo system in the spring. It is a 2001 model (in case there have been changes)...do any of you know;
1 - how many speakers in the cockpit? what size are they (I recall 6.5's)
2 - how many in the cabin? what size are they?
thanks in advance...

Re: 28 Heat - quick question on audio system
OTH,
I have a 2001 also (I think they're all pretty similar), and it had 2 6"s in the cockpit (in the back seat), and 2 6"s in the forward cabin bulkhead.
I added 2 more 6"s in the rear seat, a Bazooka self powered sub, also inthe rear seat, and a 500W Audiobahn amp. Sounds a lot better than stock, but still has a way to go. I think a second amp, 2 more 6"s and another Bazooka will get there ..........
What are you doing to yours?
Regards,
Steve

Re: 28 Heat - quick question on audio system
Sorry for the delay Steve, been out of town.
Damn, I really thought there were 4 speakers in the cockpit - no wonder it sounds so bad
I am going with MBQuart speakers;
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2654.html
If there are only 2 in the cockpit, I will likely find a location for 2 more as I bought a 4 channel 300 W Alpine amp to run these.
Also, I have a 2 channel 200W Alpine amp that will power 2 10" subs that I am going to build a box for to fit under the rear bench seat. What do you think?

Re: 28 Heat - quick question on audio system
Steve-
Hope all is well. Ended up putting all (4) 6.5's in the rear seat (as you did) and strapped the amps inside the coller cut out, closest to the exterior...really worked out well.
Biggest problem I have right now is the subs....does yours sound muffled under the bench seat? I was thinking of buying (2) 6" bazooka tubes and cutting these out as well? However, 6 speakers under there is a lot!

Re: 28 Heat - quick question on audio system
Shawn,
I only have one Bazooka mounted as far under the starboard end of the bench as possible. It isn't earth shattering, but it's clean, doesn't sound muddy at all. I'm sure 2 of them mounted back there would really rock .....................I just don't want to give up any more storage.
I wonder if adding a grille to let the bass out of the seat base would help?
