28 Heat speed with stock power?
#2
68 in my old Nordic 28' with 496HO, low tanks, going downhill, one passenger, 70s temp. Tried all diff props, best one was a 24 Bravo stock. After reading some of the threads on this forum and talking to some Nordic owners that if I had lowered the drive 1" my performance would have increased. I threw out a small rooster as a result of the prop piercing the surface a tiny bit. Too aggressive of a X IMHO.

I would think dropping the X lower would bury the nose and slow you down some.

Stock...and no on the nose thing. The prop would be where it's supposed to be, using all it's surface to propel the boat forward. I think NordicFlame's old 28 gained 2-3 mph with a 1" spaced inserted in the drive. Check this thread out...

My stock 496 MagHO in my 2002 28' Heat OPEN BOW runs about 64MPH (GPS) WOT....with stock 24P Bravo I prop. I've seen 65.5 in good chop, no breeze. 1/2 tanks, 2 adults 2 kids on board.
When I was thinking of doing an engine upgrade, and asked Lonnie about maybe going with "shortie" drives....he said that would be a mistake. If anything, he said to add 2" spacer to drop the drive down.

WOW
Thats real bad #'s .... what generation 496?
We prop em with 26's and even 2 got 28's (strong motors with the fuel chiller on the 496HO .... 5150 RPM out of the box)

I've tested 3 different 28 midcabins with stock 496 HOs at several different inland lakes. Speeds ranged from a low of 62 to a high of 65. All on GPS. The conditions are all real world, 95+ temps, fresh water and 450 to 1100 ft. elevations. Obviously cool air, sea level and salt water will add significant performance to any of the boats. Just keep in mind where you will be using the boat.

We have three here in the nose bleed seats 5000 feet that do good to turn 22s and 55-59 mph
(BTW..those same boats turn 24s 62-65 mph at Havasu just like Indy's did on the salt)
