I have the same tow vehicle. 02 Excursion with V10
Tell me about the air bag for the rear.
These trucks ride like crap. I added bilstein shocks and a rear anti-sway and a fabtech dual opposing steering stabilizer but the truck just bounces and shimmies over bumps. My tires are also oversized slightly 315/75/16 on stock rims. Does the air bag improve the comfort level of the ride

I also put Bilsteins on the Excursion...they came with the Edge 3" "Plush Ride" lift I had installed. The lift and shocks alone made a HUGE difference in the ride -- but I still had a sag when towing, and a bit of a sway.
The rear airbags came with an Air Lift kit. I belive they're Firestone bags. They sit on top of the axle. Each bag (left and right) can be adjusted for air pressure using the in-cab controller -- which has two meters. There's an air compressor which is mounted under the vehicle.
With the vehicle loaded up with the family and a weekend's worth of clothes for havasu, I'd pressurize up to 45 lbs...which levels it right out. Tows straight as an arrow -- and there is absoltuly ZERO sway in the rear-end.
Hope that helps.

.....forgot to mention...when I did the lift and purchased the Weld wheels, I decided to stick with stock outside diameter sizes -- just went a bit wider. Didn't want to mess with the computer/recalibration of ECU and speedo. I'm within .1 MPH GPS vs. Speedo after the wheel/tire swap.
