I found some other pics of the boat when it was in the magazine. Before the Blower motor.

What make / model tabs? Define lower speeds.

I ran my 2005 one season w/o and one season with tabs(Bennet HD-16). Never anything that I would call porpoising with tabs in play. Only thing close to porpoising is with little or no tabs in response to waves. Wife likes to cruise in the open bow and does not like any kind of rough bouncy ride which of course is worse the farther forward you sit. Always wave action on week ends in season on our lake so usually 25 mph max cruise speed with wife up front. OUCH! The tabs changed everything and now can and do cruise at any speed with impunity with appropriate tab position (often almost full in) unless huge cruiser waves. Hard for me to imagine how tabs could cause porpoising but I am hardly a hydrodynamics Guru.

Hope someone else that is more knowledgeable chimes in. May need to post this question on the General Q&A for more exposure.

Different question. What has been your experience taking big air with the Rage at higher speeds. It is a boat that seems to like to fly off swells. Anything on tab positions / loading to better control this is of interest.

That is one beautiful Rage! Is your boat the actual boat in the article?

What was the original engine/hp in your Rage and what did it run WOT before the engine swap?

Yes that is our boat thank you, we had allot of fun actually designing the boat. We designed the paint scheme, we lowered the windshield, all the rigging, and put the bolsters in. The motor was fun as well.

That motor was a naturally aspirated 540ci, 625hp, and it only lasted a few runs. We ran a few runs at the time trials on radar at 85mph with a 28 pitch prop.

That is very similar speed to the O/B Rage with a NA 540ci/625hp that BobL put together. Re: "only lasted a few runs". What happened?

Impressive paint scheme to design from scratch.

Rage they were running it as hard as they could for a few runs and we blew a head gasket and they hydraulicked the motor.

That's a shame but sounds like that gave you the opportunity to move up in hp. Was that a Cometic head gasket?

Hey Frank - nice to hear from you. Yep boat still runs great. Did'nt do much to the motor, just some exhasut and a flame arrestor. ONly gained a couple MPH on the top but the boat is very efficient in the midrange and gets great mpg - with gas on the lake over 4 bucks last summer it was nice to drive right by the pumps on our weekends. You still selling Nordics? Do you still have that beautiful Flame with the 525's? Shane

Hi Shane, glad you saw my message. Yes, I still sell Nordics and I do have a 35 Flame with 525's. I've been selling more used Nordics lately and I'm always looking for well maintained 2000 or newer 28 Heats. I've always wanted to boat on Lake Powell so maybe someday I'll see you there. Frank
