does anyone know of any flames that are breaking 100mph? And if so, what kind of engine/outdrive package do they run? My brother is looking for a larger, faster boat and wants to find one he can repower with his own setup. He has been looking at the 353 Fastech and the topgun (used of course) I could be wrong, but I told him the TG would probably be the easiest hull to push to 100. Any input would be appreciated. There are several...I know of 3

One in Canada with Pfaff motors

One in KY with twin ILMORS

One in FL with a single Pfaff and twin drives through the IMCO splitter

If I remember right, there was a Flame in the Northwest that had 500EFIs with Vortechs in Powerboat that ran 107+.

Lake Cumberland has one with Pfaffs...supposedly a 100 mph boat with 600's

600 HP will not get 100MPH. It will take a true 700HP to see 100. The one with Ilmors will not do 100.

I raced the old Dick Simon Marine Factory 2 353 with a 35 Nordic with bone stock 500EFI's, the Nordic a bone stock boat with full cabin. It was on Saguaro Lake in Arizona in 2000. We started right out of the no wake zone at the back of the lake. I'm took him bad right out of the hole and never looked back. Felt like I could run circles around him (used to even know who the guy was).

Point is, power for power, the Nordic will take the 353.

I don't personally know about the Cig. But unless its one of their newest, latest, greatest hulls, the Nordic will be faster.

Subsequently I raced the Dick Simon boat again with my current 35 with 575SCi's. The outcome is obvious.

I also raced the Sun Country Marine 382 Factory 2 and whipped them, but the 382 has a weight disadvantage. I think.
The Sun Country boat had a bare cabin (where the owner was showing me how he had to continously repair the places where the stringer grid separated from the hull).

Formulas are excellent, high quality, well engineered boats and are not the fastest out there.

They did well in Factory 2 racing by fielding a lot of boats and being consistent and reliable. Outright speed is not everything in racing sometimes.

Nordic never got their act together to race Factory 2 despite having actually built one boat with the intent of doing so.

What does your 35 w/575s run consistently?

Also, didn't the D^2 boat run into the 100s fairly easy with the Whippled 502Mags?

I've never done anything to, nor ever dialed in my 35.

It is exactly like I took it off the showroom floor. 32 pitch
Bravo 4 blades.

What I get consistently depends on the weather and
what I'm doing with it. It's usually heavy, full fuel, ice chests,
etc. Also depends on altitude. Remember it's hot here most
of the time we use the boat, and that doesn't help.

I'll say consistently 85. The highest ever seen was 95.

It cruises at 70 at 4000 rpm and that's about all I seem
to ever care about any more. Haven't done a top speed
run in a couple of years (except the 85 I've already mentioned-by top speed run I'd run low fuel, unload all my crap, just me and the wife, and do it at Havasu, or do it on the ocean and maybe get 3 more mph).

I'm probably afraid to check the top speed. Might not make 95. ALL boats as they age, their hulls change shape and sometimes develop rockers, hooks, or other distortions. Not
a problem, just means you have to go back and blueprint it.
It's an over 5 year old boat.

And when I race other familiar friends boats that I've raced before we seem to assume the same positions. I don't care much beyond that. The boat is fun, fast, and reliable. That's all that matters.

We Built the 35 from nw in the end it ran 115 with 800 rpm to go .could not get drives to hold the power 930hp 945ft lbs torque at 4500 if you have any questions fell free to call eastside offshore marine 425 822 5300 john
