35 Flame Twin Step w Twin 500 EFI's
How fast does this boat run with light load? Salt or fresh but please specify. Also, would really like to hear from an owner... Not someone who "has a friend and thinks that it might run...."
|
If in good condition, boat will run 88 MPH on GPS, 30 pitch bravo's. No BS, I sell these boats and have owned three myself.
With the 525's your looking at 90 -92 depending on conditions. Very fast nice riding boat. Feel free to PM me if you need more info Gary Unlimited Marine |
35 Flame w/twin 500's
Are you considering a purchase?
I'm having mine built as we speak with twin 700's - I understand you don't want to hear a friend who has a friend story but we just ran one with twin 700 Paul Pfalfs and it ran 105 at 5200 RPM's Good luck with the purchase - I'm in Long Beach CA so let mek now if you make it this way... |
Thanks guys!!

85.4 best speed i have seen in freshwater, but maybe i do not no how to drive the boat

79-80 GPS with 496HOs at Havasu with labbed 30's...

Like you, when I was doing research, years ago, I didn't want to hear what some friends boat did. In fact, I didn't care what anybodies boat did. I only trusted published magazine articles. There should be a couple of back issues of Poweboat and Hotboat that will document around 88 mph freshwater lake speeds on the 35 with 500 EFI's.
My first 35 had 500 EFI's. Here's another perspective: way back in 2001 we encountered the Dick Simon Marine Formula 353 Factory II race boat twice on Arizona lakes. I'm not kidding when I say we could run circles around it. We also ran circles around the Sun Country Factory II boat, although I think it was a 382. Not to demean Formula's, I think they are superbly engineered and built boats. It's just that Nordics are faster and in those days a Nordic cost a lot less. You will enjoy a 35 with 500's. What kind of speeds are you running with the 575's?
|
Jima97, what sort of speeds are you seeing with your 35' Flame with 500's?
|
A friend just bought one from Oregon that sunk. He's getting it ready to run and I wondered what to expect.

I wish you would buy one, you have been sniffing around here for over a year. You need to take a good look at the 04 in the classifieds. for 99k. I seriously thought about sending a surveyor out for a look. I know its been sitting in the water but I dont know how long. I spoke to the guy he said everything was in good working order. Just need to scope out the bottom and the drives. Put a new Myco under it for 12K and you're rolling! o4's are going for at least 150K. If he was closer I would go see it, but a plane fare is cheap for that kind of savings. The right deal will come along. |

Nope. Has nothing to do with Fountain. I was up late working because I have a little more than one career and find it easy to do my hobbie stuff late without interuptions. Not every day of course but I did realize that by posting "after hours" it left me open for people who just like to up their post count. But hey I'll entertain some humor - - Since you brought the beak into it... What has Nordic EVER done with regards to setting records, winning races, or something I might like to watch or read about? Now, while you're thinkin' up something else to hit me with, I'll be launching my boat for the day as I have every weekend since before Halloween!! Have a good one dude. :cool-smiley-011: |

You got me on that one! I dig San Diego. Watch out for those nuclear submarines and PT boats. Where do you live La Jolla, Old Town, around Mission Beach or what? Have fun! |

Does the 27 fountain run 90 with a single 525 because my Nordic Thor does :D:D:D:
Side note: Let me know if you guys make it to Desert Storm this year. Lookin' to make some new friends! See ya, Jason |

Well, gotta say that if you really are running that fast on a single then I'm impressed. My boat will not ever see 90 as long as I'm paying. I do like the Nordic my buddy just bought. It's been sunk twice but is going to fix up pretty nice. Can't wait to play with it in the next couple weeks.
Side note: Let me know if you guys make it to Desert Storm this year. Lookin' to make some new friends! See ya, Jason I have a 2000 35 Flame with 502 MPIs, (Stock) and she runs ~ 78-80 depending on the water conditions. I plan putting in bigger power hopefully this year, ~ 580-600Hp. We LOVE our Nordic!:D Question, How did your friend's Nordic sink twice? Was it in saltwater? BTW, I'll be in SD May-June 08, working @ Miramar, if your friend has any questions, let me know. Dean |

A storm came up and sunk it on anchor. Then, it went into a shop where they replaced both engines. Apparently, the mechanic(s) spun the boat out and caused it to flip over and it sunk again. At this point it's just rumor from me.. It's pretty beat but has a lot of potential if he does it right. Send me a message when you get in. take care, jason |

we loaded all our crap in it, and low fuel. I rarely see 90 lately, 85 pretty consistently but she's fat. And I only just got done refreshing both engines. It's fast enough I lost interest in speed runs. It cruises nice and the only things that outrun me either cost more or have more work in them. And it's been pretty reliable for 6 years. AS with any boat, you add 1000lbs of BS, it slows down. When I had my 500's modified to 570HP I could do 95 on a good day and 93 any day. I had too run 93 though. The 525 at 90 on 87 is a good deal. If I do another engine deal I would do 572's or 598's with 9.3CR so I could do 87. That should make 675-700HP on pump gas pretty easy. That should do 100+ any day. I have found the 35 does not like the side tanks being full. Slows it down a lot. I pretty much keep them empty. It seems to change the attack of the boat with the higher leverage point. I think two belly tanks would run better.
Still a great boat My 2 cents LLH |

Yeah but kinda hard to compare a cat to a v. Bring it on down to San Deigo Bay any weekend and I bet you won't do 90. I'd race ya to catalina for titles.:party-smiley-004: |

You must be a fool because a cat handles better than the same size v in rough water. I am a little far away in georgia but ill smoke some single engine fountains out here for you.:D:D

Boat runs 67-70 depending on conditions and usually can hit limiter at 5150 RPM Anyone know how much more prop I could expect to turn and whether or not I should have it worked or leave it alone? Really don't want to keep buying props and trying to resell etc."Quote This is your post SDFever, from another thread. :hitfan:I'd put my money on the 525 Thor, looks like you only have a 496. |
