Mildly intereting in possibly considering thinking about making a phone call on this boat.. :drink:

Thought Id ask some questions here first..

Anyone know some history or background on this one? I like the colors, looks like a clean boat with reliable power for an ok price..

anyone been on it?

nice looking boat! i dig the paint. werent you also looking at 28-30 ob skaters? anybody have any idea on the speed difference?

johnlomant 09-24-2008 11:31 AM

I will sell you mine for a great deal same boat with gelcoat graphics instead of paint and a 525

waterboy222 09-24-2008 12:14 PM

Ya.. I was looking at same size boats with twin o/b's but i cant find anything that I like thats updated with full paint.. twins are nice but I think keepin up with a single would be easier.. speed differences are hard to rate because outboards have such small HP andstill produce higher top speeds..

what speeds do you see with the 525?

Southocg 09-24-2008 08:51 PM

I know that boat has been for sale for about a year.

I think the thing the hurts it is the off brand power.
It almost seems like one is better off sticking with "regular" power. That carb'd stuff just doesn't fly.

Not to mention they had issues with those bottoms. $hit loads of power and not a bunch of top end from what I hear (but have never owned one).

waterboy222 09-25-2008 10:00 AM

what were the issues with the bottom? My searches are comin up null..

OCM 09-25-2008 10:29 AM

If you really interested in a Nordic Thor . You should talk with someone that has seat time in one of these boats.
The bottom has been change on the new Nordic Thor cat.
With that being said,John L has some seat in one. We also have two of the New Nordic Thor cats. One with Merc racing 525/92 mph
700sci nxt carbon kevlar 112mph.

I would definately talk to people with seat time.....
People that use the boat every weekend, day in and day out.

Depending on who you talk to, speeds will be all over the map and opinions will too. In short, do as much front-end work as you can. Summer is a long way out, make an educated decision.

Happy Boating.

I have spent quite a bit of time on john lomants boat and it is extremely impressive. It handles any lake chop that you can throw at it, been in the gulf of mexico @ over 85 mph and it looks killer too. after one ride in this boat my wife told me to sell our fountain and by a cat(which i did) besides all of that you will no find some one that is as anal about maintainence/service as john.

John,

I thought you really liked your Thor.....why are you selling so quickly?

johnlomant 09-26-2008 07:47 PM

Why not build a new one with a bigger engine like 1000hp

I wish it was that easy, I just want insurance on a HO to be reasonable. Sounds like a great plan.:drink:

But as to this thread, I've heard there's a porpoise issue on the original hull's, but the new ones don't have it at all, (like John's I believe) and they are quite efficient as I understand.

I'd suggest talking with the owners about the porpoise, and taking it for a spin if they say it isn't an issue. I really like this one, and it has been for sale a while, but a lot of boats have been these days.

johnlomant 10-02-2008 07:42 PM

The porpoise is due to untrained drivers. I learned a lot from the Tres Martin school. All of the 07 and newer boats are great boats the 08's are suppose to be faster but the fastest boat to date was a 07 with a teague 900, 118gps in powerboat magazine and it had the single step bottom. I pay 2400 a year for insurance with a 525 but it should come down after the first year is up.

Ahhh

I wouldn't call Tim a salesman......

He doesn't have to be.....

He lets his product sell itself. :ernaehrung004:
