I've got thousands into props, fuel and ton of my time (all on my own) to fix this very problem. I hope they use this data and apply it.

While it is true that Tim and Nordic supplied most of the props (I supplied a few), and the spacers, along with the time to change the spacers.... I supplied many, many hours, and hundreds of gallons of fuel to do this testing.

Thats why they call boating a recreational sport.

I enjoyed every minute of it!

Nice testing, amazing you can find 5mph, which I'm assuming also helped (may not cure) your water psi issue. Now all you need is more power :)

I promised my wife that I would not do your power-ups untill Febuary. But I am REALLY looking forward to them.

I solved my water psi issue per your recommendations, by modifying my IMCO lower to include a water inlet on top of the nose-cone. Works Awsome!

The spacers were provided for testing by Nordic. I got to keep the one that worked the best. I retained the 1.5" spacer, which puts my prop depth at 5" below the keel.

Reading all this is a little frustrating......

I get the part about fuel and hours.
The problem I was having was procuring the parts to do the testing. Outside of a couple props I was never able to get anyone at Nordic to follow through on the other stuff I needed.

Everything was offered at "oem cost" and even at that I never heard back from anyone. I kinda gave up Nordic and went and did (and currently doing) it all on my own.

Hope it all works... I'm looking forward to hearing how the prop runs.

It's going to be a hard call for Nordic to adjust anything across the board. Some of you are raising the X, most are lowering it and the fastest Nordic Heat I've witnessed hated the spacer and might have even benefitted from a shorty :confused:
Granted most Heats like the spacer. That being said; using the "most" factor as the driver of change, Nordic should lower the X an inch.
The minority then could use shortys but bottom line is there is not one cure all answer here :cool-smiley-027:

You are correct that one XD isn't going to work for every application. The open bow boats seem to need more lift than the hard decks. People load their boats differently. AND, as a general rule, the higher the HP to weight ratio of any boat, the higher you can run run drive. A 700SCI boat should need a higher XD than a stock 496/425, for the same reason you buddy's boat with the big motor didn't need a spacer.
STILL, Nordic should do enough of their own testing, or at least use our experience to develop a database of what XD works with with what model, deck type and engine/drive combination.
Just curious........since they are very close to Lake Havasu, do they lake test their boats after final rigging? I would, and I'll even volunteer to do it :cool-smiley-011:.

I believe that they water test all of their boats. I know that they tested mine... I know they tested the 700 Ilmore boat. I just am not sure that they do a lot of tweeking after that.

I believe that they mostly build 496 Heats. That is their #1 seller. I agree that lowering the x-dimentsion at the factory would probabily be beneficial. Especially now that they are making the boats "wood free" A lighter boat sits higher in the water, and therefore needs a little lower x-dimension.
