Prop/Spacer Table - 09 Heat
 

This forum seems quite dead at the time.
Lets get some discussion going.

Here is the prop/spacer table I made up for my 09 Open bow Heat with 600sci, and an IMCO extreme SC outdrive.
These numbers are averages of at least five runs per prop.
Best speed to date has been 81.7 mph on GPS.

I have ordered a Hering 27 five bladed bravo prop to test.

Any thoughts??

Was talking to Herring the other day (headed to Havasu Wednesday to test one) and they
told me you ordered a new prop.

Have you run it yet and if so, how did it do?

I have not run the Hering 27 yet.

I have received it, and hope to run it in the next few days.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for posting your table, etc. Should be good info for all Heat owners. Interesting that speed improves with a little lower X. I'd heard that the Heat's were set up a little high and thought the same with my buddy's stock 500efi heat - it seemed to take a little longer onto plane than I expected.

Anyway - curious to see what you find.

You are correct, not only did lowering the oudrive increase top end speed, but I was also able to plane at a lower speed, and overall acceleration and boat handling improved drastically.

It was nice of the factory to help you and your dealer dial your boat in. Did Nordic say anything about incorporating this data into their future rigging plans?
It would save their dealers and customers a lot of time if they would mount their engines and drives at the X dimensions (18 1/4" hard deck/17 3/4" open bow) we have researched for ourselves and them.
There are other advantages to lowering engines, other than correcting slip and lift. A lower CG for better handling in rough water, and high speed handling under any conditions. Also, that extra vertical space over a lowered engine makes larger induction (superchargers, intercoolers, bigger carbs, flame arrestors, hi flow intake manifolds) and better exhaust (large diameter headers) easier to install under the stock hatch.

Mike Latka, the new production manager for Nordic, suplied the spacers and props for this testing with the condition that I document my findings and e-mail them to him. Hence the Table. He has had it for about a month. When I last checked in with him, he was doing spacer testing on a stock 496 boat.

I also sent a copy to Pete, the VP of Nordic, at his request.

All of this leaves me to believe that we will be seeing some different x-dimension setups on Heats, from Nordic in the future.
