I have a set of 34 maximus 5 blades, I like them they carry the high on the water.

I had a set of maximus 5 blades on a 35 with 525's. Like Dwane indicated, they do carry the boat higher in the water and cruise great but at WOT lost 4 MPH.

Tim at OCM has had good results with the Hering 5 blade Bravo's. Saw significant pick up on top end with good manners over 90 MPH. I am going to try a set of these this spring.

For a few MPH, they are worth it. What are they about 900 a piece?

Has anyone run P5-Xs on a Flame? They work so well on the Heat (much better than the Maximus I've run), you would think they would work well on a twin engine application too.
They are smaller in diameter (15"s) than the Maximus, still have great top end and midrange efficiency, and handle very well on my boat.
BTW, some friends here are running the Hydro Quad 4-Xs on 35' Fountains at 100MPH. Much less expensive than the P-5s, and they seem to run run very well out of the box.
As soon as I get back on the water, I'm going to try one on my Heat.
FYI,
Steve

Tim also has a set of P5-x's the he tried on his 35, and did not like them at all.

Why not? Too fast :grinser010::rolleyes:?

Steve,

The P5-x's were slower, and did not make the boat handle as well on the top end. They are also not as smooth as the Herings.

Chris

P.S. On a seperate note, I have found the 5 bladed, bravo style Hering props to be as fast or faster than a Bravo on the top end, and have more speed at cruise than any other prop I have tried on my Heat. They are also noticably smoother than any other prop I have tried on my boat... P5x's included.

Would you expand on what you mean by "smooth"?

CB-BLR 03-02-2009 09:57 AM

That is a little hard to describe... but I will try.

They feel better balanced, and like they go thru the water easier, and with less effort. They are obviously better hooked up, because of the lower slip numbers than even a P5x. They are exceptionally fast in both the mid range and top end.

Overall, when you try one on just about any boat, you can tell that you are driving with a superior product. It just feels better and different than any other props I have tried.

The prop feels different; like the difference between a clapped out, 1973 Ford F-350, and a new Mercedes 600 class.

Smooth and Powerful.

Maybe not quite that extreme... but extremely noticable.

They must be doing something right, because I believe Hering has more super-boat championships than any other prop.

I would think the 35 would be even faster than 100 with 700's, I'm thinking 110 maybe. I worked on 1 like 9 years ago with 502 mags, and SC's, it did 98mph with dual 625hp but it was a handful! But now, carbon layup, better drives, higher X, better props, more power, should be able to easily eclipse the 100+ area.
