Slap a 32 labbed on her for the summer and a custom 35labbed for the cooler temps and you should be happy with it...then you can sell her and start over, I have been thinking of that, doing a RPM with a Phaff 15:drink:00, with a #6, I know crazy....

John,
Brutal engine! A nuts and bolts question. What max oil temperature do you see during extended WOT runs and is that oil temperature recorded before or after the oil cooler shown in your picture? Bill |
210 degrees if I kill it. The sensor is after the cooler that is where you want it to see if it is diong its job.

190* is pretty common for oil re-entering the motor (post cooled) at the pad and is what Merc thermostats the motors to do. This is where most Merc HP motor temps are probed. When the oil at that location is 190* your most likely around 230* in the pan which is perfect.
Your occasional hard runs (which sounds like your good at :drink:) and 210* post cooled temps are probably netting you about 250* in the pan which with good oil isn't going to hurt you for short durations. To monitor oil temps the best would be two gauges; One on re-entry and one in the pan. This would tell you how much heat your cooler is pulling out of the oil and give you a good indication of whats going on inside. Beautiful motor! I'm sure you've noticed how hard that 1/2 stroke hits at 4000 rpm  Dave |

Runiing good. I mounted a wideband in the exhaust and gauge on the dash. It runs around 12.5 to 12.7 at wide open. 2 people 50 gallons of gas 90 degrees outside 103gps at 6000 Rpms with a Merc labbed 32 picth bravo 1. I suspect 105 is possible by myself in the same conditions.
