XR drive ???
Hey anyone had any problems with there XR drives. I got towed back yeterday. We were running along at 4000 rpms and all at once rpms rev and we are done. Didnt hit anything didnt do anything different that we had done all day.All the fluids are up I took the shift cable off and shifted it by hand. I am going to pull the drive and check the shifter and see if there is any thing obvious. Or just take it in. Is this drive diff than the old mercs ? or Do any one know a good repair on performace stuff in Spokane or just take it back to my Dealer OCM.
thank you C n T Smith |
Dude that sucks!!!! I hope it all works out ok. I have a great hands on guy that is the only one that I will let touch my boat in Spokane. He is at Lake City Marine. Vince is his name and will treat you right. Did you happen to check the cupler ???? I lost one in my Baja and found that one motor mount was loose. I'll give you a call in a bit. You might have to bum a ride from Josh and Jenna for a weekend or two.

Drill it, put a screw in it, then use a pair of pliers or a dent puller to pull it out.
You are lucky.. that is a much easier fix than having your drive go boom. Chris |

cntsmith,
Unfortunately, welcome to the BBC (Busted Bravo Club). As many of them as I have broken and seen broken, the drive shaft is a new one on me. I would check the engine alignment closely when you reinstall the drive. If it's misaligned (less common with the offshore cradle mount, which you should have with a 525) it could be putting your drive shaft in a bind and fatiguing the metal. Also make sure you have plenty of grease on the splines. The coupler might be worth a check too. Regards, Steve |
