Got my new SCX drive today
I finally broke down and bought a new SCX drive for my Thor. I sold the old XR sportmaster before I broke it. I cant believe how nice this drive is and it is huge. I am going to change over the helmet and install the drive saturday. I will post some pics soon. I got the sc lower so that the boat would not slow down. Hopefully I will be able to test it this weekend or early next week.

John, any recommendation on where you bought it? I have a friend looking to buy a SCX. Looking forward to hearing how she performs.

I am interested to see what speed loss (if any) you will experience with the bigger gearset. Is your x dimension going to be the same? I had really good luck with the SC lowers. Starting out with ALL new parts is the best thing you can do in these drives when you start putting real power to them. I think that you are definately headed down the right track with your drive set up.

The people I have talked to say with the sc lower there is no speed loss and some are actually gaining speed. I may gain some speed going from the sportmaster lower to the imco because the imco is suppose to be faster.

I did the same setup on a 39 Cig a month ago. Make sure when you raise the drive you check for interference between new helmet and ring in the all the way up position.
