I talked to Brian today (my man @ Havasu) and he told me my entire steering system is now Hardin Marine. Remember this setup was done over 2 years a bit at a time. I know now no half assed hybrids will work. You need full hydraulic from helm to the leg.

To quote an old friend "Its all good!!!
Today I saw an all time best of 91 mph. Conditions were glass water and the temp was about 105F. This would be a 1 to 1 1/2 mph increase over any previous speed. My rpms were about 5200-5300 as a result of my propman giving me a bit more cup. I expect more speed as the temperature drops.
Not sure on the limiter, it kicks in at 5400 on my tach, which may be out 100 or 200. i was so impressed with my steering today that "I TOOK MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL AT 90 MPH"
my wife just shook her head! No problems! Now I need more power!

Terry, be careful of the rev limiter. It removes fuel to do the limiting. It can easily damage the engine when running a supercharger.
Also, the 496/Whipple motor we built last year made peak HP at 5500 RPM. It had the Raylar blower cam in it and a 5700 rev limit. You probably should get them to raise your rev limiter if you've got all the forged internals.

I know this is kinda a dead thread, but Desert Rage (Jon) tried my Merc labbed (it does matter who labs) 32 @ Mohave last weekend. He's running about the same 600 hp power & got his best 89 @ 5500. Good place to start, seems quick to me!

After some great test results it really does matter who labs your props

He ran my pseudo lab 30 the same day and got 86 @ almost 5500; WHAT???

Obviously there is a difference and my 30s are headed to BBlades for the Merc profile

Jon's hp is actually ~675...

He's getting about the same #'s as me down there. Maybe my Whipple 500 isn't making the claimed ~750 hp or my GPS is off or altitude doesn't make much difference for SC motors. My best was 87 before rebuild @ Mead. (Same trip I blew a head gasket) Ran 87 all the way back to the trailer maybe with a rich water/fuel mix? I'll try to get a good run next spring @ the Desert Storm. I'm hopin for 92ish.
Why do I obsess over a couple mph?
