Default Nordic Heat open bow question

Looking at buying a 28 heat. Like the versatility of the open bow but I was told that the air/wind coming through the open bow can get real annoying. Anyone have a take on this? Thanks

Answer: bow cover and/or a snap in door between the open bow and the mid cabin.

I do not find the wind coming thru the open bow obnoxious at any speed. But... I usally am not going above about 55 when I have the front cover removed because I have my family with me, and 2-4 kids sitting in the nose of the boat. I had a mid door made for when we are out all day, and riding home, and my girls get cold. I can snap in the mid door in about 30 seconds while under way.

I get an extreme lot of comments on how versatile my boat is for a family performance boat.

Having the bow cover off will slow my boat down by aproximately 3 mph. (89mph vs. 92+mph)

Hope this info helps,

Chris

How much power does it take to push a Heat 95mph?

Depends on the setup and year of the boat. His boat has 850+ horsepower. Mine is a newer hull, with an all composite hull (no-wood). I can do 90-91 mph, anywhere, anytime.. fully loaded with fuel and my family of 5 kids. , ranging from 10 years old to 20. I do that with about 730+ horsepower.

Chris

P.S. Young and Dumb's boat was built by BobL on this forum. Bob is a Nordic dealer/guru, and an all around good guy.

Hey Chase, I have a 2008 Heat for sale. It has the open bow with the snap on bow cover too. It truly is the perfect all around boat like everyone claims it is. Just look on the classifieds on here for the pics and the details. This is my 3rd Nordic Heat, and definitely won't be my last, just gotta condense my boats for the time being. This 2008 is by far better that the 2007 & earlier models when they used wood. It will never rot, and is considerably lighter, faster, and more nimble. Any questions, let me know. Rob 714-785-0864

Love the paint on yours. Wish I could get ride of mine - yours would be on my short list. Great price.

Good luck on the sale.
