The fastest 525 heat went 81mph with a lot of tweeking and a 1.36 gear ratio.

Typically, they do low to mid 70's

I just swapped a 496 to a 525 in a 2005 open bow Heat. Speed was 72 at 5200 running a labbed 26" Bravo 1. That was at 1000' elevation and 100+ degree air temp, smooth water. Later testing in cooler weather he saw 75 on the mississippi river.

I am the owner of the Boat Bob`s talking about .....I just got the Motor put in and right now I need to get my Prop redone I am only getting 4950 to 5000 RPM out of it ...I do think ones i get it propped correct I should have no problem seeing 75MPH all day long.....

And when I say get your 28 with the 525 and not the 496 HO trust me on this.....Mine came with the HO and it was a 62MPH Boat then I did some upgrades to get some more speed until this past summer when it took a **** on me ....I now have the 525 and am happy

Got my 525 and XR Sportmaster setting in my shop for my 06 O/B 28. It has a 496 HO now. The only thing I'm waiting on is that i'm not sure about the exhaust. The 525 has headers on it. Any suggestions on getting it out to the corners.

If someone would be kind enough to post their email address, I will send a video of my tach/speedo running at 81-82 mph. I don't know how to post a video. I have tried many times but I can't get it to work. Maybe someone here knows how. Or I'll just send it to anyone who wants to see it.

Ray,

What do you mostly contribute your awsome speed numbers to? ... regarding the setup of your boat.

Its a 26 B1 4 Blade right outta the box....That 525 should be running at 5200/5250 RPM....I run it on the Mississippi river which is about 1000 feet
