Thumbs up Rage / Heat CD Compartment Modification

Just finished up a modification to the CD compartment in my 07 Rage. I sure this would work on the Heats as well. I generally use my Ipod and it's mounted in the CD storage compartment. I decided to fabricate a flush mounted door to cover this area and install a few shelves. Not alot of room but big enough for small things like wallet, phone, keys etc.

I got the smoked plexiglass (cut and beveled to size), hinges and (4) 4x5 pieces of plexiglass for the shelves from Mike at Nordic. "special thanks to Mike for all his help" I used the same hinges that the glove box is mounted with although I had to first straighten them out and then rebend, cut them down to work for this application. I fabricated the latch out of a piece of stainless strap, drilled and tapped it for a 1/4-20 bolt. For the bolt I used a black bimini top mounting bolt that I drilled and installed a cotterpin in so that it would not come out of the door when it was opened.

Here are some pictures of the end result.

Steven

Default Nice job Steve

I'll be considering doing this to mine. Did Mike give you any indication as to whether they'd be willing to make those covers for others? You should put together the hardware and sell it to those of us that aren't quite as mechanically inclined as you. Looks great and functional.

My rage just has a mirror in that location, does anyone know if it is just screwed on in front and covering the CD hold? I would like to some extra storage space for sunglasses and other items, so that looks pretty cool. Maybe I could just add some hinges to the mirror and make it look like that.

That is a work of art. Great vision, and perfect execution.
Well done!
