Default 28 heat questions....

Hello all. I'm researching boats for an upgrade from my 25' Eliminator Eagle. I'm got an 80mph boat now, and don't want to go backwards. I'm trying to get something with an enclosed head, and a bit more wave cutting abilities. I havn't seen any enclosed heads on the heats, but I love the lines of the hull. What would it take to get an 80mph boat out of the 28 heat? Have any been built with enclosed heads?

i agree that it would be great to have an enclosed head, but i've never seen one. there's a cubby under the bed for a porta potti.

mine runs 78-82 depending on conditions. pretty much 80 all the time w/ just my wife and i.

i have around 650 HP.

To get an enclosed head, I think you would need to look into the flames. The heats have no where to put one without some serious interior design work.

Yeah, I don't want anything bigger than a 30' however....

In my humble opinion, the Heat is an amazing boat, capable of some great performance, yet very comfortable for the family. An enclosed head would be doable, but would require custom work. For the size of the boat, the cabin is quite roomy (at least for me) and if you did away with the cooler area, I could see a small bulkhead there, but you would lose that open feeling of the cabin. Either way, good luck with you search. I am biased, but I think Nordics are top notch all around with the best styling out, again, my opinion :-)

Wave cutting doesn't exactly come to mind when I think of a Heat. Not sure what type of water you're going to use it on but in Long Island Sound, you got knocked around pretty good at times. You really need something with a sharper entry than what a Heat has if that's a big requirement.

Otherwise it was a fine boat, never did care for the side saddle tanks tho. Probably the best looking 28 out there as long as you don't get some of their dated graphics.

X2 what Indy said. Great lake boat, a bit too crazy in the rough though, lacking a sharp entry and weight, does bounce around. And yes saddles suck. But I still love my Heat lol.

My 2010 Heat has a 75 gallon tank in the floor, I don't know if they all are that way or not but the boat they built before mine and after mine both had belly tanks.

After a certain model year (which I am unsure of) they switched to belly tanks. Older heats have two 43ish gallon tanks.

Rough water ride quality and handling is as good as, or better than, any other sub 30' boat I have driven or ridden in including the 29' Fountain, 28' Sunsation, 27' Warlock, etc.
Here's are pics from notoriously rough Lake Cumberland (Thunder Run).
Some of this is how the boat is set up, and some of it is driving technique.
As for an enclosed head, I have never seen that under 35' from any manufacturer.
Regards,
Steve
