This is exactly how I did mine....its nice to get out on the water and enjoy a few cold ones after all the hard work.

I use indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive on the flat sides of the 2x6s to keep material from bunching. Use Monel staples as they are better than Stainless for this application, especially if you have/are using salt treated wood.

It's better remove old carpet than carpet over the old stuff.
That said, it's easier to make new bunks than remove old carpet.

It's been discussed several times on here, and I speak from experience on all accounts.

I'm Ready, Jack up, new wood, SS fasteners, adhesive and Monel staples. Too cold for "cold ones" but Whiskey will do after it's done.
One last question, does anybody use a spray on lube like "Slydz" or "Liquid Roller".
