On the Bravo One X (this is on a 07 Heat), is there a certain type of outdrive ears I would need to flush it properly? My buddy recently purchased a 98 Fountain Fever and the drive had a low water pickup, requiring a cone style flushing kit.
I'm currently waiting for the boat to be shipped to me, so I'm not sure what the lower unit looks like to determine what I would need. I wanted to order the correct flushing kit before it arrived.
Thanks,
Kacy

If its not a speedmaster lower just a low water pick up I just put some duck tape on the low water pick up and you put the ears on the drive like normal. Just do not forget to take the tape on or off! It works fine let me know if there is any thing I can help out with!

10-4.....I called Nordic today and they actually mentioned the tape idea as well.
Oh yea, DIG IT, thats a bada$$ boat man. Super clean! Motor looks sick! I thought I pm'd you last week but I guess I never actually sent it. Good luck with your sale man, I'm sure whoever gets it will be more than happy.
Brett P, a buddy of mine texted you I think last week (Jonathan), I noticed you were in the Chalmette area....we're gonna have to hook up this summer. How are you liking the Rage, or Nordic in general? I've seriously done a ton of research on these boats and from what I've gathered....they are a high quality company!
Thanks,
Kacy

Hey guys, after what seemed like years, my new (07') Heat has finally arrived! Awesome boat! However, I have had the following issue... When I hooked the water to the lower unit to let it run on the hose, I couldnt get water to come out of the exhaust. I taped up the low water pickup and used the ears as normal, but after about 45 sec I still saw no water so I shut it down. Now, regardless I had plans to change the impellar immediately to make sure I was starting the season out fresh, so with no water coming from the exhaust I was really expecting to see a chewed up impellar. When I removed the impellar it actually looked great and most like it had been recently changed....
How long is it taking when you guys hook your hose to the drive, for the water to exit the exhaust? (My other boats usually took 8-10 sec but none of them had closed fresh water systems on them.)
Is it possible that the impellar had been changed, but put in with the wrong rotation? If you are facing the motor, which way would the raw water pulley turn on a 496 mag ho?
Im just kinda stumped about this, doesnt make sense. According to the shape of the impellar, water should have no problem circulating throughout the system.
Thanks ,
Kacy

It really does not matter what way you put the impeller in. It will flip and go the right way after you, start it. I would be willing to bet that you need to get a new sea water pump kit. You more than Likely have some scoring on the front or back of the housing. I'm not sure if the 496 has the replaceable plates for the front and back or not. If not you will need to pony up for an new one. I would get one from Teague, Rex marine, Eddie marine, Dana marine they will all have a aftermarket one that will be able to rebuild on the future. It happens from sand. You should have water pritty quick after you start it.

Mine does the same thing when flushing. I get normal amount of water on one side of the exhaust and about half on the other. My pump is in perfect condition and I checked for clogged lines, I think that it's just not enough water being pulled from the ears that you have on the lower unit.
Yeah, have to get together. I might go out this Sunday and definitely going next Saturday to the prop stop, tickfaw 200!
