So I think my depth gauge transducer is bad. It reads 2.7 or 3.2 or 168 all the time nothing else. I talked to my local shop and they want to put a transom mount on, saying the in-hulls don't work through the fiberglass. They say its very common to drill the holes for the mount and cord. This is my first Nordic and I love it so I don't want to mess it up. So to drill or not to drill?

Personally, I wouldn't want lines hanging down and strapped to my transom. (Not a great look on a perf. boat IMO)
You can get a shoot-thru-hull transducer that works fine, I have one in my Heat. Mounted center of the bilge, about a foot forward of the drain plug-
Good luck
Mine is an Airmar something, connected to a Garmin 430
