Default Holeshot Question

06 Heat 496HO B1X all stock Mirage 26P prop. Boat is new to me and this is my first performance boat. Standard procedure for me to get out of the hole was trim down and hit the throttle. If I do that on the Heat, it will rev up to ~4000rpm quickly and hold RPMs as the boat speed catches up with rpm, cavitation ? I can address it by feathering the throttle getting out of the hole, but is this normal? 26P seems like a common prop for this combo.

AW

i guess if thats what u want to call it .. i call it not verry smart ,, but to youre question . 26 pitch 3 blade ,4blade .. , more blade surface will grab the water better , less cavitation .. less useless rpm throwing air ... try comming on plane a little slower ..

It is a 4 blade. Im just a newb. First time in the boat, I used my SOP and experienced blow out. Since then, I have eased on the throttle and it doesnt happen. Just trying to learn the boat.

Easing into it is the best thing, not as hard on the drive, also those year heats are notorious for high x-dimensions, adding a 1" spacer will make a huge difference, search drive spacers, there's a lot of info on here about them from some very knowledgeable people, welcome to the Nordic navey!

Just recently put the boat back in the water for this season. I have been practicing the holeshot, but it seems impossible to get this boat on plane without blowing out the prop. If I very very slowly (1 min + to plane) creep up on plane, it still blows out at the point the bow starts to come down onto plane.

I have a set of tabs to install, hoping that helps.
