Default Oil pressure

Hi Nordic family.. I have a question and am hoping for someone that has had the same problem. I have an 08 heat with a 496ho and dana's. The boat, apart from the dana's and prop, have been unchanged. I recently have run into something that is concerning with my oil pressure, or gauge. I normally run between 40 and 45 psi but recently I took some friend out for a run from Oseanside to La Jolla and back.. about 65 miles, most of which was WOT. Now I see my oil pressure psi around 35 to 15, depending on how long I run. I also notice that my gauge needle used to move smoothly and not it almost ticks. I changed my oil about 25 to 30 hours ago. Could this be due oil degradation or gauge failure or oil pressure sensor issue? It's time I get the oil changed so that is the first place I will start but I take my family to Catalina and the last thing I need to blow a motor on the way out or home.

Thanks for your input and guidance.
