Default Heat fuel gauge

Who else has a wonky fuel gauge in their Heat? From day 1, with full tanks, the gauge stays at near full to what I'd guess is about half a tank, then does a sprint to a quarter. I've lived with it for 15 seasons, but had a scenario this week where knowing more precisely at a glance would have helped. I can't imagine it's possible to put a new sending unit on this boat. Any workarounds short of buying a separate and expensive flow monitor? I'm tired of doing guesswork calculations in my head while underway.

I've noticed the same on mine(97 with saddle tanks on the sides)...only reason I can figure is because my tanks are almost double the width at the top to half way down then they get super skinny

Thanks Stewart. That makes sense. Appreciate the perspective.

SlowFosho

The gauge goes from 0-20 l/100km. The HR-Vs rated fuel efficiency in Canada is 8.8 l/100km city,7.2 hwy and 8.1 combined
