Default A beat to death question

But i will ask it anyhow I miss my Nordic. I had a Heat a few years back, and miss it. I do not miss the upkeep. Was a lot of fiberglass to maintain haha. My current setup is a great boat...for me, and me alone... anytime I put people in it, its rough, have to actively drive a ton and cant have fun.

I am thinking about a Rage. It's a little less boat to upkeep, my wife's truck can pull it, since i pull the camper with the big truck. How do the two compare? Does the Rage handle chop well? I know it's a sit down boat, which works for me. Tired of getting my kidneys beat on a windy day in Texas. Fresh water only! Am I going to instantly regret a smaller boat and want a Heat again? Give some insight people, especially those having owned both.

And, I hope the Nordic Navy is all doing well and enjoying their summer! Thanks all!

I boat on inland lakes in Texas as well. No experience with a Nordic boat. I think you might enjoy something with more deadrise or more length like a 24 Pantera, 27 Fountain, 27 Formula, 25 Active Thunder, 27 Donzi ZR, etc.

I used to run a 24 Python on Lake Texoma, which was a 7ft beam, 24 degree deadrise hull (with pad). That boat ran great in rough water at 55+mph. Sliced thru waves like a knife and was very stable so long as you kept it in the water. It didn't fly so well, but I was amazed at the ride in rough water. Didn't ride well at slower speeds tho.

We have only had 2 bayliners prior so no input outside of our boat. This fall will be 6 years and 300+ hours on our Rage. I don't know how a Heat rides other than I can't keep up with one in rough water. and they are about 15k more. A Rage will handle just about anything but it is not an ocean boat. In rough Havasu water it does ok. It can ride rough in big wind waves or very busy lake chop but it can handle it safely. I launch and recover most of the time by myself and can get on and off the ramp as quick or quicker than most, unless they are doing a back in drop off the trailer. Fully loaded on a triple axle trailer our MCOB weighs 5860.

I have a heat obviously...a buddy had a rage with a whippled 502 and he just got a heat with a 500 efi stepped mine is not stepped so I have a little experience....always boat on lake Michigan which is rough at times..his rage ran circles around both heats well prior to my motor upgrade however unless its glass his rage could not keep up with my 75 mph heat at the time...anything over a ripple and the rage's power was useless. Cabin/cockpit space is not even comparable. Long story short is if you've been in a heat you will hate the rage. I pull mine with a half ton chevy with zero issues. I would go for a heat personally.

Well now that that is out, LOL. If you had a Heat, you may not like the Rage...unless you are just looking for a smaller boat. It won't beat you up as badly as stated but there may be better riding boats in the same size.

I went from 21 foot Hammer to Heat. I am never going back to anything under 25 again. 28+ is it.
