My Plans are to install the Raylar in mine next winter after the warranty has run out |
Re: Newbie Nordic Owner (Maybe)
I second the GPS results before and after. Only "exact" results please :drink:
We all assume here that you are currently around 65-66 on GPS. My guess is 71-73 after the install. 15-20 hp per = 1mph / 100hp = 5-7 mph. It currenlty takes an HP575SCi to run 76 consistant, HP500 to run 70 fairly consistant. Should be interesting. Of course now if this was the HotBoat forum you should see 15-20 mph increase :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: Keep us posted, Dave |
Re: Newbie Nordic Owner (Maybe)
I have a GPS speedo getting installed this weekend, and will run on Mead and havasu prior to the raylar being installed. I hope to be taking the boat down to Arron next week, as the parts should be in . Hopefully I will have a good tailwind to so I can get the hotboat results! LOL

Re: Newbie Nordic Owner (Maybe)
Sounds great Mhale00!!
We're hoping to get down to Mead here real soon. I'm really wanting to run my 496HOs down there where they can breath :( Has the lake come up at all? Southern Utah has about a 225% snow pack which will miss Powell for the most part but has to go straight to Mead I would think. Dave |

BobL:
Wow, I just ran your speed and horsepower #s, and even though the speed range was different, the horsepower requirements were almost identical, so I think we're on to something here.......................... Your #s: 375HP = 61MPH; 625HP = 75MPH, for a 14MPH increase. 625HP - 375HP = 250HP -: 14MPH = 17.8HP per MPH My #s: 550(propshaft)HP = 76MPH; 700HP = 85MPH, for a 9MPH increase. 700HP - 550HP = 150HP -: 9MPH = 16.7HP per MPH Actually, my HP #s are an educated estimate, based stock horsepower and modifications, since I've never dynoed my motor. If I correlate my #s against yours (1 MPH increase requires 17.8HP), I'm actually making 735 bobtail/710 propshaft HP. Anyway, there are lot's of variables (load, weather, etc), but I think we are very close to determining that it takes approximately 17HP to increase the speed of a 28' Heat 1 MPH. It will be interesting to test these #s against your next round of mods............OK, now I'm going math crazy 75 + 15 = 90; 15MPH x 17HP = 255HP + 625HP = 880HP :D .................. Keep us posted! Regards, Steve |
Re: Newbie Nordic Owner (Maybe)
I'd have to say those are pretty accurate calculations from my experience Steve.
But what would I know about a Heat; I own a Flame :D :D :D |
