Cool Re: Oswego Run

When someone "not in the know" and not involved in the club states "it's what we here(hear)" it's hearsay. This is exactly what the claim about ROPA fighting, etc. is- unfounded hearsay started by someone with misinformation or twisting the information for their benefit. There is and has never been any "fighting" going on with members or officers of the club. Just differences of opinion and philosophies, which everyone is entitled. Those whom had disagreed with each other continued then and now to work together for the good of the club.
The "President for life" moniker was given (me) by some close and dear friends as a compliment and a joke, not something I ever planned on or expected. The President (me) is "out" after 14 years, not by trouble with the club, but due to other parts of my life needing more attention than I've been giving. I chose to step down at this time as there are good people to step up. They receive my full support and I still work on the Battleship Run committee so, obviously, I am very much "in" the club and am very actively involved.
As a former 30 year veteran rock musician I know what "groupies" are. I haven't seen any around our boats so I have no Idea what was meant, but if anyone has some extra "groupies" feel free to send them to our run's so we can change this "hearsay" to fact!
Hopefully, Formula 271, you will feel free to contact an officer or director (or even an "Ex- Prez") of ROPA, www.rochesteroffshore.com, click on news and newsletter for #s and emails,. with your legitimate concerns and questions so we can find out what we're not doing for the people in and near Oswego and what can be done to make it better.

So now that the dirty laundry is aired out, who's going to the run?

Can I pout??? I don't think I'm going to make it. Especially considering my husband left for the run 3 hours ago...and I'm still here. Sick kid.

JB will be there though...and you guys have to come back on here and tell your stories.

Ohhh, it makes me sad to hear that someone thinks that the Rochester people don't want Oswego people in some sort of clique. Oswego is one of my favorite runs! Lots to do at night...and hanging with some people that know where to go would be ideal. I know there's a group of us that go out when we're there and it generally ends up being a "trial and error" basis on where we end up. The one bar that was popular two years ago was a pizza place last year....woops.

Most of you are arriving now...or have arrived. Have one for me and have a great time!

Like I said in my earlier post it seemed that the Rochester boaters stuck with each other and didn't really talk to the local Oswego boaters other than Buddy that help with the run. I would think if ROPA wanted more members they would be more open with newer members. Myself and a friend of mine were members for a couple of years and didn't renew. We felt like outsiders just there to support the run and that's all. I drove down behind the Captain's Quarters about 9:00 tonight and there was only 3 boats docked there. This used to be a big event with alot of people coming in Friday night and staying for the weekend. Friday night kind of went away as did the Saturday morning breakfast. It's show up Saturday morning do the run, have dinner that night and go home. I would like to know how many boats are in this year's run and what the membership numbers are now compared to 5 years ago.

Tell ya what....my mom insisted on watching the sick child so I could go play....I'm leaving at 7...meet you there. I'm from Rochester, and you're from Oswego...and I'll be friendly.

Now get going....it's a race, and I'm going to win...even though you've got an hour and a half head start.

It was a very small group. We are not from Rochester and were made very welcome! Dinner the night before and breakfast (muffins, doughnuts and bagels) were fun. Everybody is open and friendly, even the Psycho Chick posting above! I think the small turn out was more a result of the 4 poker runs in the area on the same day. The Rochester crew have been together a long time, and as old friends will, have a lot of stories etc, they share with eachother. If any one is excluded, it is unintentional.

BonnieOutlaw, if you were up at 5:46, how come you were still running lights to get to the run?

The only thing that the Rochester crew stuck together on was harassing us to do the Seneca Run, which we might! So I would say thats inviting, not excluding. I think you should give it another chance, they are great people.

I thought I was still racing that formula guy above! I didn't want to hand off the win by doing something stupid by waiting for a pesty red light. Those ARE optional aren't they??? You should have seen me on the expressway trying to make up time if you thought that was bad.

I had a poker run to get to.

Funny thing is....I turned down the radio at WEST 1st street (2 streets away) because I knew he'd call me wondering where I was. If the stereo is on...I don't stand a chance of hearing the phone. Sure enough, 10 seconds later the phone rings.

I think we've been married too long.

It was great meeting you and Lisa! I hope we've successfully got you contemplating coming to Seneca with us. It's a great time!

I've got it all planned out for ya. Come Saturday morning and do the run, stay for dinner and festivities and go back home Sunday morning. It does wonders for the outlook (stress from work, etc.). I know JB and I end up laughing for weeks afterwards...and the stories always come back up later. For instance, I bet ya $50 (if you show up) that the boys don't let me park the tailer this year.
