Northern NJ spots

Looking for places to run in the Sandy Hook, or highlands area. Good eats and beach for a day?
And maybe a spot to throw in some more 93 octane.

As far as eating, it's either Windandsea in Highlands (it's just a little before the Highlands Bridge) or Waterfront Cafe, which is down the Shrewsbury river (Sea Bright) or Barnacle Bill's which is down the Navesink River (Rumson)

As far as anchoring........down the Navesink is a small cove by Hartshorne Park (but no beach) if you are looking for the beach then it's the bay side of Sandy Hook.

As far as 93 Octane that would be at the Navesink Marina where the Waterfront Cafe is.

If you are coming this way either let me or Panther know. He's out of Sea Bright and we launch from Atl Highlands. You also have mr_velocity down the shrewsbury in one of the lagoons.

stormrider,
Lucididee pretty much summed it up. This is the first year my boat is in that area. I've taken my boat out 2 times from the Highlands, first trip immediately ran outside to Manesquan inlet/ Pt pleasant and had a blast. Second time was Sunday, I did some exploring and noticed that there are a ton of no wake zones on those 2 rivers. It got kind of boring, but I need to learn the area so I can take some wimpy guests out once in a while. I did pass wind and sea and the waterfront but didn't stop.

My next two runs will probably be 1)SandyHook to Paddymgees and 2) Sandy Hook to AC. :)

What part of Long Island are you coming from?

Nice spot to hang out is Horse Shoe cove. It's half way out on the hook on the bay side. Small cove with horse shoe crabs.

You can also go to the end of the Navesink and go to the Molly Pitcher Inn for lunch.

Horse Shoe cove is gone years ago and I mean gone eaten up by the bay.

If you run down and want to spend the night my dock is always open.

Lucididee we are on for Sat July 9th. Let the bro know, think he'll take the resin bucket out of the river for this one? Not sure if he can handle the sound :evilb:

The no wake zones aren't that bad. As long as you stay outside the channel when going from the Shrewsbury to the Navesink. They don't bother you. But it can be kinda wimpy.

Coming around Sandy Hook can be a biotch! And with a west wind the bay can also be rough!

If you dock at the Navesink you could also walk to Donovan's (which is on the ocean) or even Ichabod's. Let us know when you are coming over!
