I've been to Martha's Vineyard a few times, but never during peak boating season. Is the Illumination ceremony & fireworks truly worth the trip as compared to any other given week on the island?
BTW, I checked the events calendar for August at MVOL.com where they have a brief write up. I'm hoping to gain a better perspective from someone on OSO.

Thanks,

Dan i can guarantee it will be the best Firework display you have seen here is the deal though the night (1201 on the dot) you must reserve the slip as they will sell out in a 1/2 hour. Last year they sold out in 27 minutes.

Hey dam its on teh website for the vineyard. I will have 2 already, On February 19 i believe, not to sure just check the site, right on the MV website it says when to do it that when you have to reserve like i said before last year all slips were sold out in 27 minutes. Its a great time and cant wait till next year, also check my post on 1st run of 08, going to Block Island for lunch/day and coming back mid evening around 6 or so

OK im a Jack ass and it was the 1st of Feb not any other time. But there is slips in the next town over (vineyrad havent, 2 minute buss ride, only 5 or 10 for the whole week of riding) I reserved mooring out there. On the dock its a minume of 40 ft. and its 4.50 a foot. Since i dont need elect. or ater im taking a moring for friday and sat. night and leaving early sun.
