This Winter I launched a website for boaters in Upstate NY (BoatUpstate.com). It mostly focuses on Lake George, Sacandaga, Saratoga, Hudson and Mohawk Rivers (because I live nearby and boat on those waters) but will eventually add more bodies of water.
The goal is to provide the most complete resource for area boaters, so there are event listings, business listings (marinas, mechanics, dealers, canvas shops, ect), messageboard, classifieds, and information about the lakes themselves. For example, I put together a section on Lake George island camping and listed the islands by group with descriptions of each. Once I get on the water, the plan is to make 'video tours' of each island, so people can really check them out in detail rather then relying on a written description.
If you have a boating related business in the area and I didn't list it already, or if you want an event posted please let me know. I am going to attend a lot of the events and get picture and video footage. Some of the events I already plan on attending include the Lake George Donzi Classic Dustoff, Sacandaga Poker Run, Wakeboard Wednesday (LG), Sand Island Bash(Sacandaga), Canal Fest, LogBay Day(LG), and of course, the 1st annual BoatUpstate.com raft-up (Lake George). Any constructive feedback is always appreciated, as the goal of the site is to help boaters. Url to front page: http://www.boatupstate.com
Thanks!
