I think that we're within about 2 weeks of a very major announcement concerning this years Columbus Day Poker Run event at Lake George. It should be good,... very good.
I spoke to DEC last week and all appears on track with DEC and LGPC. I just don't want to announce anything until I have the permit in hand.
In the meantime, discussions have been held with the Lake George Mayor's Office (who is very supportive), a course with card stops has been developed, rooms are being held at a major Lake George Hotel, a helicopter has been reserved, a photographer and videographer have been reserved, a bar/ restaurant has been reserved with a banquet menu and band, t-shirts have been designed, pace boats and drivers have been selected, insurance has been lined up and a thousand other details have been attended to in anticipation of getting the Marine Regatta Permit. Potential sponsors will be solicited as soon as the permit is issued. The format would include a Poker Run and High Performance Boat Show. Should be a very special event.
Stay tuned.
Thanks for asking.

Off-topic but figured this would be the best place to post. Johnny I was in up LG last week with my family for my cousin's graduation (we have family in Glens Falls) and saw your article in this month's Lake George Mirror. Just wanted to say congrats, and good luck racing! Looking forward to taking a walk down by the shop/docks this summer...it's a yearly event for me when we head there for vacation

I have the permit!
Repeat, ...I HAVE THE PERMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're good to go. Jason Saris , Rick Gage (Owners of Performance Marine) and I are meeting with the LGPC (who has not objected to our permit), Warren County Sherriff and the Mayor on Friday morning to work out the final details and specifics.
Following that I'll be making the registration materials and specifics available online via a link on the Performance Marine website http://www.perfmar.com/
This is going to be a GREAT event.
More to come this Friday.
We'll also begin looking for sponsors at that time.
