im trying to fit a trip in. Work went crazy this week with a deadline moved up and i may be working all weekend. I dying to get the boat in some bigger water. It has been difficult with time being i still fish often and running 2 boats. I have been away from the performance world for about 6 yrs so i dont know everyone on the river. How fast do you cruise mark ( hiperf2000) and what rpm. You heading to the Inn or down farther. Does the wife and kids go, mine cant stay still long enough.

M mark. You have the checkmate i saw you at the ramp a couple weeks ago.

we trailer down and launch at the goose. probably about an 1-1/2 hour drive. we usually stay at the holiday inn for the night and then come back. i usually cruise at 50 - 55 depending on the conditions. the cruise to the inn and back costs me about 150 + or so in fuel so its actually cheaper and easier to trailer down . we are actually trying to line up a long weekend down there as we speak. looks like we will be on the river tommorow. we will take a cruise and then be anchored up by the bend at curtins or tully cove. lmk, mark

we don't stay on our boats overnight, thats why we trailer. just easier for us that way. mark

Should be hearing from Kurt's soon on the drive repair. Had to order a complete set of new upper gears.

Looks like the weekend of Sept 4th is going to be the next trip down to the bay. Schedule is crazy busy.

My reason for towing down to NE MD is wear and tear on the boat and myself plus the fuel costs I save pays for the room and eating out for the whole weekend. I've made the trip down and thru the C&D in the Fireboat and there's nothing I really need to see. Only about an hour and 10 minutes for me from my house. A little longer for Mark coming from up north.
Not comfortable with leaving the boat in the water overnight and for sure my wife is not sleeping on the boat, not set up for that at all.

Hope to get out on the river between now and then a few times. This season didn't really turn out the way I had it planned. Looking forward to running with as many boats as possible. The more the merrier.

Bill. as hot as this summer has been maybe we will have a longer and warmer fall. i like fall boating in the cheasapeake. the only down side is winter is around the corner . i trailer and drive the boat to northeast md. i only have a 28 so not really much room to sleep on and no ac . its nice to have a room to take a shower and get cleaned up and go out to dinner after a day of boating and if you leave from anchor marine you can head farther south on a tank of fuel.

fireboatpilot 08-19-2010 02:21 PM

jln -The 28 is your new boat right? Good luck with it. Hope to meet up soon.

Heard from Danny, had the drive together with the new gears. Was making some sort of noise. Has to replace the steel tower inside the case. Good thing it's a replacable part. Bad thing, I'm sure it ain't cheap. Still on for the Sept. 4th weekend.
