Very nice post Frank. Maybe your smarter than Kev says.LOL
This is the kind of thing the CPBA may be able to help keep from happening. we should band together and have a party, Uh meet at the capital. |
I will be there protesting against it...
I'll light the building on fire.... In all seriousness, I am fully against things like this... I will voice my opinion.. |
I love how they have the meeting on a Wednesday during a time at which all the people that this effects are working!!!! Very frustrating.
For me its a simple solution...If any of these bills pass, my boat will become a RI registered boat. The perks of having a house in RI. Adios CT. |

Here was the reply from the Connecticut Marine Trades Association when I contacted them to see if we could help out in anyway.
You can be at the Legislative Office Building Monday morning and testify against the tax increases in bill No. 1007. They will certainly do a number on boating. If we are going to be there and testify we need to organize it and have a representative, I am not sure right now If I cna make it but I will look into it. If anyone else would like to be involved whos a member of the CPBA that would be great. |
Check this out!!! Found this in another thread...................
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is too true to be funny. The next time you hear a politician use the Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about Whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, But one advertising agency did a good job of Putting that figure into some perspective in One of it's releases. A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959. B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive. C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were Living in the Stone Age. D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet. E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, At the rate our government Is spending it. While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's take a look at New Orleans ... It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division. Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) Is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS To rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number... What does it mean? A. Well .. If you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) You each get $516,528. B.. Or... If you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.. C. Or... If you are a family of four.... Your family gets $2,066,012. Washington , D. C HELLO! Are all your calculators broken?? Building Permit Tax CDL License Tax Cigarette Tax Corporate Income Tax Dog License Tax Federal Income Tax (Fed) Federal Unemployment Tax (FU TA) Fishing License Tax Food License Tax Fuel Permit Tax Gasoline Tax Hunting License Tax Inheritance Tax Inventory Tax IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax) IRS Penalties(tax on top of tax) Liquor Tax Luxury Tax Marriage License Tax Medicare Tax Property Tax Real Estate Tax Service charge taxes Social Security Tax Road Usage Tax (Truckers) Sales Taxes Recreational Vehicle Tax School Tax State Income Tax State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Telephone Federal Excise Tax Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Tax Telephone Minimum Usage! Surcharge Tax Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax Telephone State and Local Tax Telephone Usage Charge Tax Utility Tax Vehicle License Registration Tax Vehicle Sales Tax Watercraft Registration Tax Well Permit Tax Workers Compensation Tax (And to think, we left British Rule to avoid so many taxes) ! STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago..... And our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt.... We had the largest middle class in the world..... And Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What happened? Can you spell: 'POLITICIANS!' And I still have to Press '1' For English. I hope this goes around the U S A At least 100 times What the hell happened??? NOW! Try to comprehend what one trillion is. And now we they talk in TRILLIONS of dollars |
The first thing that came to my mind is we were properous because we used slave labor.
Our workforce was free. In the wrong sense of the word. Taxes are needed but it has gotten out of hand, no one was paying anyattention to where there money was going because CREDIT made everything seem OK. Now someone has to pay the dues and its gonna be our generation. Look at quality of life though. Before credit people had 1 car, only the wealthy owned boats or went on vacations. Credit can be good, but not when the terms get crazy. People need to be held accountable for thier use of credit and lenders need to be rained in a little on there terms allowed by law. The variable rate mortgages should be done away with and 20% down should be mandatory for ANY LOAN. Fact of the matter is you can still get an FHA loan with 3.5% down with a good credit score. So if the market checks itself 5% people are left with no equity. No equity+no morals = default on the loans. The government is no better. Heres that equation. No accountability+Tax payers money = Overspending Let Them be personally responsible for every dime they spend under possible litigation by the american people and you will see spending STOP.LOL While thats an extreme remedy I do think there needs to be some accountability for those spending our money. |
let me say that when I say we above I mean the country as many of us and our families were not even in this country in the time of slavery.
