Default Car vs. Boat Race (CPBA Event)

I was thinking a great event would be a car vs boat race up the river. Both would start in OS and end at Harbor Park. The car and boat enthusiasts could meet up for breakfast (OS) and then again for lunch and drinks (Harbor Park).

Both areas have enough room to showcase cars and boats. I think the cars would have a slight advantage because boats have no wake zones but I was thinking the cars would have a mandatory stop to pick something up to even the race out (i.e. take a picture in front of a landmark before moving on).

Any thoughts?

If the authorities ever found out, people would get in trouble.

Youre insane Moses!

I like the way you think but an event like this just sint possible.

The insurance would be outrageous is anyone would even insure it. The liability would be through the roof.

While I like the Idea and in a perfect world it would be a great it just doesnt work in the real world.

Especially not with the funds our club currently has to work with.....

Great thought though. A+ for trying

Im thinking maybe a toy boat, race on the CT river behind the haddam island. Everyone take s a boat, we paint a number on them you pay and entrance fee and the winner gets some $$$ the club gets some too.

Could be a very cool event. We could even incorporate an area where people can see from the land like harbor park or something. Of course we would need to collect all the boats at the end or make them from something biodegradable.

a toy boat run!

I thought it was a good idea, I don't it has to be taken literally but just a good get together. A great spot to meet and hang out is Eli Cannons in Middletown they have a great back porch/yard area.

They did this for a Powerboat magazine article many, many years ago. Mcanus Apache vs a Lambo or Ferrari. Raced from Miami to Key West I believe. I think the car won.

They did the same on the gay US version of Top Gear.
