Mike came over today, figured we'd slam the o-ring in the sea water pump and take the boat for a ride if the weather was nice. Well the weather wasn't nice, so we decided to do some odds and ends (and cleaning) to the starboard engine. Decided to do a deep cleaning! A few hours later we got to the point where it was a lot easier to move around in the engine compartment and things became much easier to clean, especially once you got that big thingy off the top of the engine!

A little further!

Long story short, went to start the engine after replacing the o-ring. Got about two cranks and the battery seemed dead... except I knew the batteries were charged, so we both though it was hydro-locked. Mike pulled the plugs, sure enough #5 had gold fish swimming in it. Pulled the header thinking we had a leaker, a quick test and it seemed fine. Spun the engine to get the water out and #7 spit out a gold fish or two as well. Figured it had to be a spent head gasket since the engine got hot last time out. A few hours later we find the smoking gun... a crack in the HG between #5 and #7.
Kind of stinks having to go though the BS, but I was planing on doing lifters in both engines at the end of the season anyway. Also got to check everything out on the inside and it was nice to see everything looked great and all top shelf parts as advertized. We actually had a good time doing it... and the BBQ chicken and beer afterwards wasn't bad either! :drink
Thanks Mike, much appreciated!
