I agree, it's the principal, what the hell am I getting for 400$? NOTHING...

There's no way this run...cost anywhere near that, for what, 6 card boats...you have to pay for pretty much everything else..I'm sure the restaurants are completely torn up about having a bunch of boaters come and blow money at their establishments...I think the run is overpriced and almost insulting..again, not the money, but it's insulting to have someone charge this much for nothing..I can't figure out where the money's going...or how they justify the cost....

People have been saying this for months then easing us into wanting to go, then the email comes out and we find out exactly, there's other fees etc and nothing's included....this thread has been open awhile and this has been discussed...not one person can say how this costs as much as it does...

The porch and BTB are going to host the party...ok, still have to pay for drinks etc..so you're basically having a gathering at a restaurant, we're stopping at montauk, gotta pay for everything there, and you give a few people some cash to hold the boats..ok and the purse...there's 4 g in the purse total...that's covered by...what..10 boats? C'mon guys, people aren't stupid...quick math even says it's over priced...

It's not a big run, I'm doing 1000 Islands in August...that's about 650-800...
You GET a TON! Not to mention it's a fantastic run....food, docking, everything...organization....I replied below, but I'm sorry, that's a serious run....for half the price...this isn't even close...

If you donated to charity or something I could see it..otherwise..I think everyone shares my opinion...

I understand the fact to carry insurance...I under stand that is a big cost...but even boats under 30ft get a break....200 for the run....so why because I'm 10ft longer, I get stiffed with the extra vig?

Make it a fun run, it isn't a race, we all carry insurance...have the cards as an after thought....

I'm sure as usual I'll be blasted for but I always end up being the voice for a group, and there are a pretty large group that would do this but can't justify spending this...at least give us t-shirts...or something else..not including food or docking is stupid..

...and for insurance...safety....you didn't black flag anyone last year without jackets....I have pictures to show that...why carry insurance at all if you're letting people run without them......

- 10:00 am Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Engines

NOTE: NEW STARTING PROCEDURE FOR KINGSTON THIS YEAR.

BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS, THE FOLLOWING STAGGERED START
PROCEDURE MUST BE ADHERED TO OR DISQUALIFICATION WILL RESULT.

All boats proceed on their own time out of Confederation Basin heading northerly
towards the LaSalle Causeway crossing the harbour. Mill there and wait. Stand by in
pairs.

A “Start Boat” being a family-type cruiser with control flags flying, will be moored in the
middle of the harbour close to the milling area.

Starts will be made at short intervals with TWO BOATS ONLY in each start.

Once the Wolfe Island ferry boat has departed its dock and the departure route is clear,
the “Over 80 mph” pace boat(s) will depart past this “Start Boat” and take a broad
sweeping route past the downtown harbour area.

Approximately 10 seconds later, the “Start Boat”, using a green flag, will signal the first

two boats from the “Over 80 mph” group to depart. These boats will follow precisely
the same course as the pace boats did at a MAXIMUM 50 MPH. Then after another
approximately 10 seconds, another two “Over 80mph” boats will be signaled to start.

The above procedure will be followed until after all of the “Over 80 mph” boats have
departed. The “Under 80 mph” pace boat(s) will follow exactly the same procedure,
followed by all of the “Under 80 mph” boats, TWO by TWO, approximately 10 seconds
apart, until all boats have departed.
-YOU MUST FOLLOW THE DESIGNATED ROUTE THROUGH THE HARBOUR

-MAXIMUM SPEED 50 MPH UNTIL AFTER YOU PASS CEDAR ISLAND

-THE ABOVE PROCEDURE IS FOR KINGSTON ONLY. NORMAL GROUP
STARTS WILL OCCUR AT BROCKVILLE AND AT PRESCOTT.

-AT BROCKVILLE, THE SLOW GROUP WILL START FIRST

-AT PRESCOTT, THE FAST GROUP WILL START FIRST.

- Card Stop #2 Brockville – lunch and gas stop. Please enter the harbour and follow the
instructions of the dock hands. Boats must go to the inner harbour first. The dock hands will
place a large X on the last boat – so that no other boats will raft along side. This will keep the
lane of traffic open.

There will be high test fuel (93 Octane) at this stop. If you need to fuel up please do so as
you arrive. Lunch will be served in two sittings at Bud’s On the Bay – a short walk from the
marina.

Note: There will be two group starts after lunch. The “Under 80 mph” pace boat(s) and
their group will depart first, followed by the “Over 80 mph” pace boat(s) and their group.
You must stay with your assigned group.

- Card #3 - Prescott - Card Boat approx. 3:00 pm.
Note: There will be two group starts in Prescott. After picking up your card from the
Card Boat, the “Under 80 mph” group will proceed to an area just East of the Bridge and
mill. The “Over 80 mph” group will proceed to an area just West of the Bridge and mill.
The “Over 80 mph” group will depart first.

YOU MUST STAY WITH YOUR ASSIGNED GROUP FOR THE START AND
FOLLOW YOUR PACE BOAT(s) DIRECTIONS.

ANY BOAT LEAVING EARLY BEFORE THE ASSIGNED GROUP START WILL BE
DISQUALIFIED BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS ALONG THE ROUTE.

- Card #4 & 5 – Kingston – final two cards to be handed out at the Awards Ceremony. Please

have your previous three cards with you and turn them in as soon as possible.

- 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm Awards Ceremony at the Confederation Place Hotel, Kingston

lets face it guys, it was never about the money. we all make good money (some more than others, etc). the fact is, if anyone on here felt so compelled to go, i am absolutely 100% sure they could dig up the funds (me included). it was never about that. not to beat a dead horse but you get nothing for $400+. no one representing the npba has answered my question as to how this differs from the pavilion poker run which is only $125. and yes the pavilion poker run did serve dinner after the run. its ashame.

Man this is a tough crowd. I see all of your ponts and I see Billy trying to put on a nice event for the area.

I Hope Billy wil get on here and answer some of this and make his case though I dont know that it will matter in the long run. The run is what it is and there will be those who run it and those who dont.

Others can watch live during the run, showing speeds, track etc. It will be saved online so you can go back and check it out later.

If this is not trying to be a downer, I'd hate to see what it's like when you are!

the pav run is not insured...this run is insured...however...not including docking...or food...is really a bit hard to swallow...docking atleast....nothing is included but a hand of cards....christ for that money I'll go to the casino and put 400 in poker...

I understand what he's doing...but how can you expect a huge attendance when you're passing off the costs to the boaters who are around the area all the time and everyone knows it...I would've been happy with a t-shirt and some pictures...I lost interest when they were charging for docking....I still might do it just to support the cause, but it's known by everyone that the fact it's about 500$ before you even get into it, to run the same places we run every week...

There is logic here...and everyone sees it, I don't care what Billy is trying to put up, if it's too expensive don't do it..or just make it a fun run and screw the cards, all anyone wants to do is run together! We can do that without picking up cards...

Billy's a good guy, but cmon guys, this is kinda cutt and dry, I understand the sponsors dried up...we all carry insurance...we all sign a hold harmless......this is beating a dead horse....should've included SOMETHING.....

Also charging the prices, I still bought a video etc from last year, then the prices for the photos...

Charge 250$ for all the pictures and the video of the run, they would've sold like hot cakes, not 400+ for one picture...this is not 2002...donate some of this to a good cause, do something....and I can understand the sponsors, if they aren't going to make money out of an event why would they do it....I can see every side to the argument...but they screwed allot of boaters by not giving anything for your money..

So let me get this straight...the difference between this and the pav poker run is $275 which for insurance which I already pay annually on my own to the tune of almost $1000. Hmmmm so basically what your telling me is that I'm paying nearly $300 to cover npba's ass in the event that something does happen? I never understood this and still don't understand it. I'm pretty sure my INS company will cover me in the event of something happening during the run. So who am I exactly paying the additional money for? If it's to insure someone else I'm not interested.
