Cedar Point Marina is nice. Kelleys Island and Put in Bay are the best places to go. There is a sand bar west of Cedar Point Marina, it will be on a chart.

I grew up in that marina on my parents boat in that marina. Very nice.
What/where to go totally depends on your tastes and whether you want an adult weekend or family friendly.
I boated that area all my life until moving down here 5 yrs ago.
I know Vermillion (20 mls east of CP) to Port Clinton (20 mls west of CP) on the south coast/shore line to Leamington Ontario on the north shore.
PS, also depends on the lake and how much gas you want to burn.
Some of the most beautiful boating I've ever done including the Keys!
Be prepared to find out you brought too small of boat I've been across and back many times in a 19' boat but have also seen 41's turn around.
Be glad to answer any questions. PM me if interested cuz I suck at typing.

Its a family weekend but kids are old enough to drive them self's the cedar point while dad goes out for a spin on the lake

If you go to the Casino (just the name of the bar) at Kelly's Island (10 or 15 mls from CP) on a weekend it's small harbor will be packed w/go fast's. Cool Island. Owner used to have a kilo record in one of the cat classes and bought the company. Rent a golf cart for the kids. Glacier grooves 100 yards long cut in rock on north side of island, bars within walking distance of dock for dad.
The coolest view is from West Bay Inn on west side of island. Dozen docks there too. Killer sunsets from there over water between two islands. Cool Tiki Bar too and family friendly. The Casino will be full of drunks by dark. Great beach to anchor off on North end. Ship wreck in snorkleing water off the beach. Marked on chart.
Another cool stop while at CP, especially with the kids is to anchor off their beach and watch the roller coasters right by the beach. If the wind blows from the south you can hear them scream.
Entire area is great to play in. If the weather/water is nice you will want more time and will be planning your return trip.
Be careful of the shallow water and sand bars (already mentioned) on west side of Sandusky Bay. It's marked by buoys and on charts but I stood in ankle deep water on that beach and watched a brand new 44' Sea Ray drive up high and dry right beside us Diesels too

Are you going to be up there over the weekend? If so, the Casino is a Must!! Also, do yourself a favor and purchase/review some charts... There is the sandbar thats been previously mentioned along with some others.... There are also some outcroppings of rocks... Don't fret... Its pretty easy to navigate though...

Was going to add that you should move this post to the general page as there's a ton of guys that run that area every weekend.
And yes, chart is a must. Sold a twin i/b 28' cruiser to a guy that "knew what he was doing" and even gave him my chart of the area.
He hit a shoal and cleaned all the hardware off my boat!

As far as "what to do & see" you could PM stormrider.. He came from out of state with his family to spend a few days.... He may give you some good idea on what he thought was really cool to see since it was his first time.... When I go back, we head straight to Kelly's and don't leave till the cooler is cleared....
